Sienna Anderson
Abby Krause
WHERE: Abby's room
WHEN: Friday; 8th
WHAT: Sienna visits Abby for their chat before therapy starts up; Sienna has terrible luck with pre-cogs.
STATUS: Closed; In Progress
VIEW WARNINGS: Discussions of death

She had an affinity for pre-cogs it seemed

Setting up a time to meet with Abby had been relatively painless, which Sienna appreciated. She knew the girl would likely be resistent to treatment, but that was to be expected given her history. The fact that professionals weren't trained in understanding the difference between delusional and super powered was an oversight in Sienna's opinion, espeically for those gifted with abilities to see the future.

She had an affinity for pre-cogs it seemed, dealing with Clara and her troubles, and now Abby, only seemed logical to Sienna. She understood the differences better than most -although her colleagues were much better trained than those who simply brushed things under the carpet.

Given that her introduction to Regiment came from the treatment of a pre-cog, it only seemed fitting that she do what she could to continue to help those in the system with the trying ability.

As agreed, Sienna made her way to Abigail's room, well aware that comfort was a shield against the unusual, and Abby would hopefully feel better relaxed in a more casual setting, much like Clara was in the greenhouse. Knocking on the door, Sienna waited for Abby to answer, hands clasped in front of her, with her small PDA held in her palm.

Nervous was an understatement for Abby, but it also seemed to be her normal state of being. She opened the door, and saw the older woman. Despite being in her mid-twenties, Abby appeared younger. Maybe it was the way she carried herself or the lack of confidence she portrayed, but she definitely came off as someone in their early twenties to late teens. She had gotten dressed, though had a pair of mismatched colorful socks on and no shoes. Her jeans were starting to wear a hole in the thigh and her shirt was a bit baggy on her as if to hide her body.

Abigail's room was sparsely decorated. Her desk and the bookshelf was full of journals and sketch books (some full some blank). There was even a journal next to her bed. Pencils were scattered all over the place, both regular and color. Beyond the drawings there weren't many personal items, though a keen observer would notice a box closed up in the corner and shelf that was unnecessarily empty considering others were more than full. There was a spot on the floor that had been cleaned, but if one squinted they could still make out the faded image of a body or two.

"Come in." She said and padded over to her bed. Sitting down she pulled her knees up to her chest and looked at Sienna. Abby told herself she had to do this because Rachel said and it was required to not be sent away or wherever bad agents were sent. She didn't have to like it though.

Sienna was used to having some degree of adversity in her patients, not everyone wanted treatment, not everyone felt they needed it. She had never taken it personally in any case and wasn't about to start with a young woman who'd been unfairly diagnosed in the past.

"Hello Abby, I hope you're doing well today." But Rachel was concerned that Abby's use of her powers, her inability to have foreseen the recent events at the base, might play into her sense of worth. And given the recent shuffling around and Abby's past, it wasn't out of the question at all. Sienna felt that pre-cogs had an entirely unfair level of responsibility placed on their shoulders.

"Now, we're just going to talk today, I'll ask some questions, if you're uncomfortable with them, just tell me, you don't have to answer. And if you have any for me, you can feel free to ask, that sound okay?" She might be treading a little lightly, but Sienna never saw a problem with having a soft approach to begin with anyway.

She nodded slowly. "I'm okay. Just fine." Abby said, not very convincingly. "It's Friday and I don't have training today so that's nice." Which meant that beyond escaping to the cafeteria to get some food that morning, before Sienna arrived- which was stashed in her messenger bag, she hadn't planned on leaving her room. Her fingers moved and tucked a lock of red hair behind her ear. "And that sounds okay."

Answering questions, had always gotten her in trouble before. Granted they were normally 'Why did you draw this' and she never had an answer so that got her meds changed, or if they thought she was purposefully not answering they'd confine her to her quarters for a week. And those were the best outcomes.

"I'll bet a Friday without training must be nice, gives you a long weekend." Although it likely meant less to agents who couldn't really leave the base than it did for people when they were outside. "What about your friends? Do they have a Friday free? Or do you get to turn this into a me day?"

It was important to Sienna to establish some kind of common ground, she had little experience in her life that could match up with Abby's, and she did so loathe that the girl had spent so long in improper care that it affected her so deeply to distrust all doctors so resolutely. Coming back from those kinds of trauma could be exceptionally difficult, and the scars were often very deep.

Her eyes involuntarily flicked over to the box in the corner for a second. "I don't really have any... well Jason is nice. But I don't know his schedule." Abby said, her voice almost rambling in her answer. "It's just a 'me' day." Which she supposed that meant most days were 'me' days. "I don't-"

Mid sentence Abby stopped, her irises slowly brightened from they're normal grey to a yellow glow. Without a word she moved from the bed to her desk. Her fingers picked up a pencil and opened a journal to a blank page. Her head didn't look down but straight forward as her hand moved the pencil over the page. Unlike others who outline and sketch when they draw, every movement had meaning and was precise. Her hand was quick, for the detail and design of the picture it would have taken a normal person much longer to draw what she did in less than five minutes.

Her file did have recommendations for whenever this happened, which was basically to just let it happen. The astute observer would notice that the only mention of her being violent in her hospital file had a direct coloration to her having an 'episode'.

Upon completion of the picture Abigail blinked, she was in a different spot than she had been moments before. For her she didn't feel the passage of time, just one moment she was on her bed, the next her desk. Her eyes looked down at the page and welled up. She recognized the place. Two bodies, withered. One on the ground, one at a table. But the location was clear, the layout of the couch in the scene the door location, table. She'd been there hundreds of times. "No, no." She grabbed the book and turned to Sienna. "We can stop this?" The downside of Abby's powers is that she never knew if she was drawing a possible future, or something currently happening. She never knew if she was too late.

The fact that Abby didn't have many friends, which Sienna didn't need the girl to finish saying before she understood it. Although the prospect of Jason being nice was at least someone she could talk to.

Above all else, Sienna was aware of her patients, so when Abby's posture and demeanour changed, she noticed right away. She'd worked with the Regiment long enough to know not to try and stop someone if a power kicked in during a session, least of all a pre-cog. Each one seemed to have a different outlet for their powers, Sienna remembered the spread of Clara's cards, for Abby it was art. Keeping back, so that she didn't get in the way, Sienna watched as the lines started to make sense on the page, the forms coming together with the scratches on the pages.

"We'll just," Sienna swallowed past the lump in her throat, clicking her PDA to reach out to anyone just as she got notification from Riley. "We... we can't. No." And that took the wind from even Sienna's sails, as she read the message about deaths on the base. "I'm sorry, Abby. It looks like it happened while you drew. You were seeing it, as it happened. I'm so sorry." Even though it was hard to tell who had been hurt, or what had happened.

Abby clutched the book to her chest, tears streaming down her face. "But... it's the leisure room. I know the place. Maybe it's not too late?" She knew it was, those poor people were husks of a person sketched in pencil. She trembled slightly.

Getting up from her seat she moved back to her bed and pulled her knees back to her chest, pinning the journal between her legs and chest. "I can't do anything right." Abby said softly to herself, almost as if forgetting the doctor was in the room with her. "They're going to send me away... I saw something but couldn't stop it... and it's big and they're going to be mad."

"It is, Riley's just been told there's two people there. I'm sorry Abby." It was unusual that there were deaths inside the base, the hologym was the most dangerous place and there were failsafes in place to counteract those dangers.

"Abby, this is in no way your fault, you didn't make this happen, and you can't make your powers happen either." Sienna knew better than to touch someone without knowing their physical boundaries, even if she wanted to let go of professionalism for a moment and just hug the poor girl. "No one is going to send you away, and no one will be mad. You can't see the future all the time, and you can't see it with enough time to stop it always. Some things just happen."

This was the burden on pre-cogs, they could see, but that didn't mean they could change. "Rachel isn't going to be mad at you, she'll be worried, just like I am. Okay? I'm going to stay here with you, while the handlers deal with this. And I'll make sure no one is mad."

Abby hid her head in her knees and stayed quiet, crying softly. She wasn't in the mood to talk anymore. She heard the words Sienna said, but at that moment they weren't registering. They were all logical and true, but the young woman had a hard time accepting them. Perhaps it was her stunted emotional development, still channeling that rebellious 'adults don't know anything' feeling. Or maybe it was because she couldn't figure out why she had powers like those if she couldn't help people close to her.

She was sure her first impression on the doctor wasn't a good one and she was going to have to have more 'talks'.

Sitting quietly wasn't a problem, Sienna didn't mind in the least. Sometimes, just having someone there was what mattered, and at this juncture of things, Sienna had no intention of leaving Abby in the state she was in.

With the girl sitting quietly, crying into her knees, Sienna gave up fighting with the maternal urges she had. If it were her daughter, she knew exactly what she would do. Perching on the side of the bed, Sienna started to rub her hand back and forth on Abby's back, long soothing sweeps meant to comfort without being intrusive. "It's okay, you can let it out. It's good for you."

Abby wasn't used to being touched in a comforting way, especially since Jester had left. But at that moment it was what she needed. Abby turned slightly and curled up against the doctor, for a moment forgetting she was a head doctor and someone she was afraid of. She never had a mother who was actually motherly so the sensation was strange, but comforting. The journal fell to the bed as it slipped from her grasp.

After a period of time, she wasn't even sure how long, Abby sniffed, her eyes had dried out of tears and were red. "Oh, I'm sorry... I got your shirt wet." She said, the smallest hint of panic in her voice over the small indiscretion.

"Oh, don't worry about that, it'll dry." Sitting with her arm around Abby, letting the poor girl just express herself right then, even if was tears and despair, Sienna rocked her a little, keeping her voice low and soothing if she had to say anything. "My daughter is wearing make up now, any time a boy makes her sad there's blusher splotches on my blouses, a few tears is nothing. And I think you needed that."

There was a line between professional and cold, and Sienna rarely wanted to be cold. Opting to blur the line a little to offer comfort, especially for those who just needed a hug now and then, it wasn't in the least bit troublesome for the doctor. "A hug can be the best medicine sometimes." It was very Mary Poppins, but it was true.
