Because exploring is a lot like...
Who: Shinji, Sal (and OPEN)
Where: Emptiness
When: Afternoon
Rating: PG (subject to change)
Warnings: None as of yet
Summary: Shinji decides he ought to do a spot of exploration, more or less.
Shinji, for one reason or another, hadn't bothered with much exploration before now. It wasn't that he hadn't intended to (he had), it was simply that, somehow, he'd managed to become distracted with one thing or another, and after that particular incident, he figured it would probably be better to stay on Nifleheim for a while. At least, he'd decided, until things calmed down on both sides. Needless to say, he had quickly become bored; there was only so much that could interest him in a single place, particularly when he had quite successfully failed in any attempt to get along with the rest of the people on his side to any great extent. That in and of itself didn't bother him per se, it was, however, just that he didn't have anyone he could particularly call anything close to a friend, and for him, that was disconcerting. In short, he simply wasn't used to it.
As such, he had decided that it was nigh on time that he did a decent amount of exploration and see what just was lying around. He remembered someone mentioning not long after he arrived some kind of empty town (or something?) that was more or less a haven for objects but devoid of life. He was sure it was a town... Whatever. To be quite frank, he was fed up of the fact that his communication device was a computer that was confined to his room; he was curious as to whether there was a working laptop within the town (that, he doubted), or whether there were materials he could use to make a non-working laptop, work (this, he was certain of). It wouldn't, he figured require that much work that it would drive him up the wall, and it would definitely keep him occupied for a while.
Therefore, the teenager now found himself wandering from building to building, peering in through dirty and occasionally broken windows at abandoned shops and houses. The town definitely wasn't very welcoming; a lack of up-keep and no human life would certainly make things that way, but as far as he was concerned, it was marginally better than being stuck in a building with people that succeeded in pissing him off. Coming to another building, Shinji peered in through the window (honestly, at this point he didn't know why he was being so curious; it was kind of obvious there was no one here), before making his way over to the door. Pressing his weight against it, he managed to open it slowly, before stepping inside.
He seriously hoped there'd be something useful inside this one. How the hell could this place be furnished like a fully functioning town and yet no one owned a laptop? Taking little notice of the decor nor furnishings, Shinji made his way from room to room before deciding to look upstairs. The house, of course, would have creaky floorboards, he mused as he made his ascent.
