Career Information: Becoming a Healer
Loosely based on a medical school type schedule, it takes three years of training at St. Mungo's to become a fully qualified Healer. The training year for Healers begins in August and ends in July, giving students one month free between years.
St. Mungo's asks for a minimum of five N.E.W.T.s, with nothing under "Exceeds Expectations" grade: Herbology, Potions (with an emphasis on healing potions and antidotes), Transfiguration, and Charms.
Let me know if there's anything you think should be added here!
Year One - First Term +Classroom and lab work +Students will study further, but have no contact with patients yet. +Students will take subject such as: +Medicinal Potions +Herbology +Anatomy/Physiology +Chrams +Transfiguration +All classes will have medicinal bent. +There are labs and workshops on reversing effects on magic gone wrong, so there will be heavy amounts of charms, transfiguration, potions and herbology that doesn't have a medicinal feel +Considered the hardest year of training by some. +Must pass exams to go onto second term
Year One - Second Term Classroom, lab work, and field trip shadowing. +Students will continue the study about the above subjects, but will have the chance to go in groups into St. Mungo's and ask questions and learn from the Healers on call. +Must past your exams to go onto year two which is as an actual healer student.
Year Two: Student Status +No classroom work and labs per say. +Students will be working in St. Mungo's. +Students will fulfill rotations and electives in each department. Students do get to do procedures under the guidance of licenced healers +Must Pass exams to become a Healer-in-training.
Year Three: Healer-In-Training + Here you will pick your major interest. (Spell damage, trauma.. ect ect) +You will spend this year learning all you can about your specialty. +The superiors in this area will decide if you've passed and are qualified to become a Healer.
Even after training, you are expected to continue learning from your superiors.
