Evil Dealings
Who: Lindsey and Candice
Where: Candice's House
When: After the Slayer Meeting
Lindsey waited outside of Candi's apartment for her to show up from her little meeting with the other Slayers. Really, a meeting to talk strategy? They couldn't have asked for a better info gathering. Although he could have waited in her house, he decided to wait outside of it, so as to not get attacked for possibly being a burglar. Sometimes finesse is needed.
Candi finally came walking to her door, grumbling. She literally walked right past Lindsey, unlocking the door as she spoke. "Yeah. Way to be stealthy there, Snake-Eyes. Get in."
"Sounds like you had a good day," he said, walking inside. "I could have waited inside for you, but I figured you'd attack first, ask questions later."
"Still might." She mumbled, closing the door, and walking to plop herself down on the couch. "And it WAS a good day, info-wise. Got some stuff to earn my thirty pieces of silver."
"And yet, you are sulllen and pissy," he pointed out. "Great about the info, but what happened?" Even though they worked for evil, he still had to care about her feelings, even if it was for the more practical purposes of making sure that her feelings weren't distracting her from being at the top of her game.
"The Slayers are putting a little army together, as we suspected they would. And they're trying to get some allies." She said, still feeling like shit for this. "Delany's almost definitely going to help. Too many people she cares about are involved. Maybe one or two of the Bales, but that's probably it. And Stone apparently has some boyfriend that's part dragon or something, said he'd probably help."
"A part dragon?" Now that was actually interesting and unknown. "Definitely need to look into him some more." Her knew that 'Stone' meant Cynthia 'Sin' Stone, though. No need to clarify there. "Might need to find some way to distract Delany, though. Some threat to her father would probably do that in spades, though. The less they have, the better."
"Paige had an idea for that." She said, shrugging. "She said if she goes after Van Warren's brother, that could potentially take Chloe, Delany, and the other witch out of it just from worry for him."
He nodded, and then narrowed his eyes at her. "Something's bothering you. What is it?"
"Maybe the fact that I'm a traitor. That I'm going to try to kill the one person who's ever been nice to me." She snapped at him, crossing her arms. "Don't worry. I'm not backing out."
"She didn't offer to let you stay in that fancy place that she got hooked up with, did she?" Lindsey asked her. "I'm not worried about you backing out. I'm worried about you letting this go to your head. Traitor is just a word made up by people who don't understand a good deal when it crosses their paths. You're looking out for yourself, which you should, because you are all that you have, to sound like a few cliches I'm sure you've heard before."
"Yeah." She sighed, torn between admitting he's right... and knowing in her gut he was wrong. "Don't worry... Lehane will be out of the way within the week. Paige will take care of the Van Warren kid. And one of us will think of a way to scare the Morrisons into staying out of this too."
"That chick went into labor today, right?" Yeah, he had a few contacts in the local hospitals as well. "The easiest way to threaten them is to threaten that little baby of theirs. Just a thought."
She felt herself stand there, a sneer coming onto her lips. "Look, dude. I'll do a lot of things for you. I'll turn on my friends. I'll kill. Hell, if you guys really want me to, I'll do the lot of you. But I ain't threatening no baby. No fucking way. Get that heartless bitch Paige if you want. But no fucking way am I even hinting at hurting a baby."
He just nodded. "Everyone has their limits. I know a contract killer who won't kill anyone wearing a cross." Nothing was out of the norm for him, and he didn't figure she'd do it, anyway.
"Good. Because now that you know, ask me again and I WILL walk." She sneered a little again, sitting back down.
"Point made and taken," he said, finally sitting down in a seat himself. "Anything else of note learned at this meeting?"
"Well... Summers seems all defensive of Kowalski. My guess is they're fucking. She got way more protective than most of them would over their watchers. But I managed to put a little bit of doubt in the other girls' heads about whether or not they can trust him." She grinned, proud of herself there.
"She wouldn't be the first to fuck her Watcher," Lindsey pointed out. "Them being the same age just makes it more likely to happen. The doubt is there, so that's the good thing. Good work."
"Thank you. Now... we just have to figure out a strategy. A way to take their weaknesses, add them to the numbers advantage we'll have, and slaughter them." And that, she said with cold, precise manner.
"And that, is why we have you," he told her. "You are incredibly inventive, aren't you?" he asked with a grin. "Most of the Slayers seem to have attachments to their Watchers, whether romantically or otherwise. That's always a good place to start. Plus, friends, family members, anything can be used as a distraction. It's always more interesting to watch them stumble over their own feet before killing them off."
"Summers, though... she's got a mouth on her. Pissed me off." Candi grinned evilly there. "When the fight comes? She's MINE. I wanna gut her while her little boyfriend watches."
Lindsey laughed. "Gotta love that fire. Fine, when the time comes, have at her. Not like anyone would try to stop you. Well, no one on the side that matters, anyway."
"Also... one other major thing." She looked at him, a tiny bit of worry in her eyes.
"What's that?" he asked her, tilting his head a little at her.
"According to Paige... your firm once hired a gang called The Blades. This is a few years ago. To take out a couple of werewolves? Those were Benjamin Bale's PARENTS." She went briefly wide-eyed. "If you want him and the rest of the family out of this... do NOT let that become public knowledge."
He arched an eyebrow there. That was *not* something that he had been let in on. The firm knew about his occasional association with Bale, so they had probably felt that it wasn't his place to know such a thing. "I will keep that in mind," he said, thinking on that. "We'll need to make sure that Paige doesn't blab that to the wrong people."
"She's trouble, Lindsey." Candi muttered. "I don't like her. She's ignorant, self-absorbed, and thinks she's the hottest thing going." She ground her teeth together there as she spoke.
"She's all of that and more," he told her point blank. "However, you can't always be picky about your allies. She's got a score to settle with one of the White Hats, which makes her useful. As soon as she fucks up, though, there won't be enough left of her to bother using a Dust Buster to clean up afterward." Honestly, as soon as they were done with this, she probably would suffer that fate, anyway. Candi was far more useful of an asset, though. Paige seemed to have no interest in learning anything.
"So... I have to ask." Candi arched an eyebrow, looking dubiously at him. "What about ME? What use do *I* have once this is over? How do I know I wont be laying dead in a ditch somewhere?"
"Because, unlike some 'people' that we know, you actually listen to what you are told and follow directions, and you learn from what you are told. You'd be amazed at how much of a commodity that alone makes you." He leaned forward a little. "I'll be frank with you. None of us know if we'll still be around one day to the next. It's the nature of the game. You could piss off the wrong higher up and end up in some factory that makes soap for China. However, I think that you actually have a future with the firm. You're not the usual 'hire and fire' types that the firm hires for quick jobs, if that's what you are worried about."
"Well, yeah." She said, a little sarcasm there. "Because how often do you find Slayers willing to turn on everyone they know?"
"Well, since that, until recently, there was ever only one at a time, and the Watchers kept a much tighter reign on them, pretty much never," Lindsey pointed out. "You're the first, only, and original."
"Well then. Maybe I'll finally be good for SOMETHING." She muttered, before pointing to the door. "Time to hit the ole' Playstation. You know where the door is."
He stood up. "And, if I didn't, I know you'd be happy to throw me through it," he said with a slight grin. "See you around, Candice."
"Yep. You will. Considering I already sold you guys my soul and all." She said, already looking away, to the TV. Screw this shit, it was Madden time.
