Inner-sun
WHO: Collin Ives
WHERE: Inner-Sun Liner bound for Aerilon from Caprica.
WHEN: A few days after the bar fight outside of Cap-City.
"I'll have the Aires Lager," Ives told the female flight attendant. "And then another for my friend here." He pointed to his sleeping companion in the next seat.
The red-headed attendant plucked the caps off two long-neck bottle with a tool, and then handed the chilled bottles to Ives. "Looks like you had quite a time on Caprica."
"Oh this," he pointed to his black eye. "You should have seen the other guys." A total fabrication on his part, there was only the one guy, and he didn't remember what he looked like. The only vague memory of the fight was that his opponent was a Colonial Forces pilot.
"Am I supposed to be impressed?" she asked while grabbing a soda for another passenger.
"Absolutely doll," he winked and grinned. He then took a draw of beer from his bottle.
"I am. Enjoy your flight, sir." She smiled and then continued down the aisle to serve the other passengers.
Colin Ives sat in his seat and enjoyed his beers. It would be several more hours till the space liner could reach Caprica's twin planet, Geminon and use its gravity to sling shot and built up enough speed to carry over into the FTL jump. So when it emerged out of the faster-than-light jump, the momentum would take it to the gas giant Ragnar. From the gas giant, the ship could use the large planet to break, and slow its speed down to take it to Colony of Aerilon. It was more economical to make a short assisted jump, than a direct jump. It also made the side effects, usually nausea, on the causal passenger less severe.
This journey would take him two days.
