Retribution
WHO: Darlene Wolff & Sophia Cato
WHEN: Evening Y2002, Dec 2
WHERE: Hanger Deck, Avalon
With the memorial service and flight formation looming for the Avalon crew, most of them were enjoying some downtime before the busiest day in many months hit them. It was therefore unsurprising that the deck was dim and empty – a fact of planning on one Darlene Wolff. She had used her relationship with the Death Angel’s squadron commander to get information about the coming day’s events. Callie, she was sorry about using her like this but Darla had a job to do and time was short.
Her boots carried her clear across the deck, a military issue rucksack draped over her shoulder as her eyes darted back and forth, checking that the deck was as it should be, completely deserted. The late hour made it difficult to see but thanks to early preparation she knew where she was going. She knew that after the memorial service she would have more blood on her hands than the young lieutenant Selwyn.
Darlene pushed aside those momentary reservations and remembered what she was fighting for; who she was fighting for. If she didn’t do this then the price would be costly to her benefactors and they would seek retribution on her head. No, this had to be done.
The memorial service was important to all the colonies and it was a perfect opportunity to make a further statement and shake up the foundations of the colonial unification. Her job was simple and it was already rolling. Darla reached into her rucksack and pulled out a metallic charge and started to place them, concealing them around the deck in strategic positions where the most damage could be achieved. She knew once she did this there was no turning back. Callie…she could only pray luck would shine on her from the Lords of Kobol and someday they would both be free to pursue a fruitful relationship.
