5-Facade Title: Facade Authors:becky_h and baffledking Characters: Jack Harkness and Ianto Jones Fandom: Torchwood Theme Set: Theme Set #LW1 Theme(s): Facade Warnings and Notes: Mpreg
Torchwood's public face, the facade of the tourist shop, sometimes was an excellent outlet for some of Ianto's grouchier moments. Smiling sweet and utterly confusing tourists, sending them in completely the wrong direction and getting them completely lost.
It was evil, but it amused him. Besides. It was seven in the morning. After he sent two aging hippies to the middle of nowhere, he came down to the hub and started making Jack tea and preparing his folic acid pills. "Jack?" None of the others were in yet.
He wandered out, mostly dressed. Even at five months pregnant, his clothes still fit just fine. He was heavier, yeah, and a little wider, but he wasn't noticeably lumpy-- thank god. He finished tucking his shirt in, yawning and rubbing his face.
"Tea," he held the mug out to Jack, offering the pills with the other hand.
He took the tea and he swallowed the pills, but not without bitching. "You know, for all we know folic acid will make the thing spot another head."
"Or it could very well not," he said evenly, "Did you sleep well?"
"No, I kept having to get up to pee. It is hard to piss when you have an erection." He drank his tea.
Ianto tried not to smirk. He really did. He smirked anyway.
He narrowed his eyes over the rim of his cup and glared. "I hate you," he announced, without conviction, and leaned forward onto the counter.
"You don't," Ianto said confidentially. "Finish your tea and I'll help you."
"You'll help me what?" he asked, slightly snarkily.
"Be able to pee without problem."
"...I don't think you can help me pee, Ianto." He finished his tea though.
"No, but I can get rid of the erection."
"Now there's an -"
His phone went off and he groaned and answered it.
Ianto went to get his and Jack's coats as well as his phone to call Owen, Tosh, and Gwen, coming back and holding his coat out to Jack.
Jack took his coat and put it on, still talking on the phone as he strode through the hub for the parking garage.
The others arrived, and piled into the SUV. Jack debriefed them along the way. Alien threat, location, all the standard information that needed to be given.
They split up, started tracking through streets slick with drizzel, trotting and walking and running, herding the thing. They finally cornered it and tentacles turned out to be some sort of energy whip.
Fifteen minutes later the fight was over. Owen was down on the ground, unconscious with his gun twenty feet away from him. Tosh and Gwen were just starting to come around. He had no idea where Ianto had gone. The alien was dead, in a spreading puddle of green-black blood.
Jack was on his feet, shoulder against the wall, leaning heavily, breathing heavily and pale. "Get Owen up," he told whoever was listening, his voice low and harsh.
Ianto helped Tosh and Gwen up first, getting Gwen to help him with Owen, wincing and shifting to get Owen's weight off the lash on his arm, on his back, as they half dragged the Doctor to the SUV, getting him in with Gwen and Tosh before going back for Owen's gun and Jack. "Can you drive?"
"I can drive," he agreed, his voice coming out more snarl than anything else, really bitten off and tense. He found his keys, took Owen's gun from Ianto and drove. He even did it without wincing, grimacing, or staggering.
The drive back was quiet. Owen eventually got up and alert and started bitching, and when they reached the hub it was down to checking over those three, Jack helping. He seemed angry more than anything, and snapped the heads off everyone.
It made it easy to get rid of them when he told them to go.
Ianto made tea for Jack and pointed him towards the autopsy room once the others left.
Jack shook his head at Ianto, and instead veered off toward his office and his room.
Ianto followed him, "What?"
He threw his coat in the dark, away from him, dropped his suspenders and started working on his shirt. "Turn the light on."
He turned on the light, put down the tea, and went over to help Jack get his shirt off, "What's wrong?"
He worked on his cufflinks while Ianto worked on his shirt. "That mother fucking bloody god damn son of a bitch syphilis ridden child of a venutian slime worm got me twice with the -" And then there went the cursing again.
"I almost died."
Ianto pushed Jack's shirt off then tugged up his under shirt, "The baby."
"Can we not call it a baby?" he asked, sharply, but got his shirt the rest of the way off, himself. He squinted at the light suddenly, instinctively shying away from it and just bothered. He moved away from Ianto and turned it back off, then sat on the bunk, face in his hands.
"What would you rather?" Ianto came over and sat beside Jack.
"I don't care what we call it, but baby seems optimistic." He leaned against Ianto, teeth together and muscles locked tight.
"What can I do?" Ianto asked, shifting to wrap around Jack.
He hissed through his teeth, but put his hand around Ianto's arm to hold him in place. "I don't know. Normally I'd vote for dying as a quick fix." There was humor there.
"But then the baby would lose oxygen."
"And blood supply," he agreed. "I'll get over it. Owen bounced back fast." He wasn't Owen. He was full of energy and alien.
"You'll be okay," Ianto kissed Jack's temple.
"I will bite you."
"Will it help?"
"Maybe," he said, sounding more cranky than anything else. "You could go home, you know."
"I am home," he snorted.
"...are you actually living here now?"
"No, but, I'm here a lot."
"Well thank god for that. Lie down."
He shifted, lying back against the wall, hissing out carefully, and making room for Jack.
"What's wrong?" Jack asked, turning toward him.
"Nothing," he tugged Jack's hand lightly, "Lie down."
"What's wrong?" He growled. he sounded more frantic than anything else.
"I got hit, but I'm fine."
"Where did you get hit?"
"Jack." Ianto said calmly, "You're hurt, I need you to lie down."
"Ianto, you're hurt. I need you to tell me the truth."
"On my back and my arm. That's all, Jack."
He groaned and pushed himself back to standing. "Come on."
"No, you're going to hurt yourself."
"There are two options here," he said, more calmly, but through his teeth. "Either I'm dying and going to take the baby with me, it's already dead, it's already dying, or I'll heal and be fine and so will it."
...That was way more than two.
"That's four," Ianto said softly.
"Whatever," he dismissed, vaguely. "God dammit, Ianto. You need to get that taken care of."
"You're one to talk!"
"I need you to be okay," he said, softly. "I can't do anything for. Myself." Not the word he wanted there.
"Will you at least let me make sure the shock didn't do anything to your heart?"
He was starting to slur. Just a little. Could be something important, was definitely him unclenching a little.
"Can we make sure it didn't do anything to your brain?"
"You! I'm worried about you!"
He. laid the fuck down.
"Thank you." Ianto touched Jack's arm.
He slid his hand around Ianto's wrist, and took his pulse.
It was fine, just a little fast. "I'm fine, Jack."
He relaxed and pulled Ianto down. "Okay." He pulled his knee up to his chest and rolled forward. "Are you?"
"I'm dizzy, my back is on fire, and I am cramping like a bitch, but I think so."
Ianto had been honest with him. He was honest back.
"Lie down and let me put a cold cloth on your back."
"I am lying down," he pointed out, but he shifted more flat, and rolled more. "And fuck the cold cloth, just lie down with me."
He kissed Jack's shoulder and curled up with him.
He dragged Ianto's hand around his waist and pressed it under his ribs, pressing against the tension, and breathing slowly. His breathing and heart-beat eventually started to even, tension relaxed and as it did there was a very faint, barely there flutter and slide against Ianto's palm.
Ianto's fingers twitched against Jack's skin, breathing against Jack's ear, completely breathtakingly delighted, "He's okay.'
He looked over his shoulder at Ianto. "You could feel that?"
"Just a little," he nodded against Jack's shoulder.
He laughed, breathless and sore. "And now I can sleep."
Ianto kissed Jack's shoulder, "Go to sleep, Jack."
