taking a hiatus slowaitus for a couple of days. i may swing around to do meme stuff tomorrow but i probably won't be IC very much until april.

Heeey guys, I've been on kind of an unofficial hiatus due to brain problems/work problems/health whatevers/Comast being a butthole and making the internet difficult. I've mostly passed activity, so I didn't want an "official" hiatus because it seemed silly.

I'm still meh, but I'm really going to try jumping back in. I love you guys, thank you for being so patient with me.

Ellis Van Dyne is Milo's little brother, Cal Barton's older brother, and twin to the not-here-anymore Isaac Pym. He's a normal dude in a world of superheroes (look, Ma, no powers!) and, in a stroke of originality, totes heterosexual.

No really.

He works a lot with his mama in the fashion industry, mostly as a stage manager and event coordinator. He's 28 and went to New Avalon, and after that he ended up traveling a lot. So he needs friends! Probably people he'll have to reconnect with, since he's very ~jetsetting~ because ~fashion~. He also recently finalized the divorce that ended a two-year marriage and will be coming back from visiting Isaac on Muir Island.

Hi everyone! There's a blizzard heading into the area tomorrow night and the last time we got something this big, our power was out for a week. So there's a chance Kait and I may be going on an involuntary hiatus. D:

Unfortunately, I may not be able to play before then, because I got food poisoning from some shitty takeout at work last night and I can barely hold my head straight, let alone get out some good tags. Or... any tags. D: I know I owe some stuff, I just can't pull together long enough to do much but lay around and feel sorry for myself.

Marvel is back. :D He left a few months ago to join SHIELD and he's coming back into town for what he thinks will be a few weeks for some additional training.

For all the new people who only know him as an Avenger leader: long story short, Marvel is Wiccan and Hulkling's kiddo (thanks for the uterus, Kate Bishop) and was dmab - designated female at birth. Until Marvel graduated high school in 1997, he presented exclusively female. He transitioned for college, living exclusively male until he was 27 and coming out as genderfluid and trans while he was an Avenger (and dating Owen Rogers, who was leading the team at the time).

Immediately after the District X incident in April, 2009 that nearly killed Owen and Aleks and did kill Ivy Logan, Marvel took Owen's identity and let the rumor spread that he had been badly injured instead. The lie both kept the Avengers from looking defeated, and ensured that Owen was allowed to be treated and recover in safety and privacy -- but what had started as a short term solution just kept going, and Marvel lived as Owen (in and out of costume) for about a year, only turning back into himself if he was home at the mansion or in private with friends or immediate family. In May 2010, the Machinist exposed him, and the backlash against Marvel was excessively harsh. He just barely managed to stay out of prison (because wow, guys, so much fraud), but his registration was suspended and he became the media's favorite punching bag. It almost goes without saying that transphobia was everyone's favorite way of ragging on him at the time.

In September 2010, he ended up working for the Academy as the sociology teacher, and stayed until November 2014. He was scouted by SHIELD and decided espionage work was better than what he was doing. Turns out he was right, too. He loves his new job.

Which naturally means it's going to blow up on him, but that's gamewide plot.


I'm going to be putting up a gamewide plot post soon. :D There are so many new characters that we could all use the change to touch base.

Beau's back! But he's not going by that anymore because... reasons.

When he dropped at the end of October, it was after going AWOL and absorbing Steven Barnes when he was bringing him home. He ended up in a SHIELD psych facility, where they used the same brainwashing tech they've used on Steven to get rid of all that classified info he'd taken in. Over time, while they were trying to scrub out anything that wasn't uniquely him, they realized there wasn't much left of him. To even out their karma score (and also for ~science!~), the brainwashing tech people went all Whedon's Dollhouse on his brain and assembled a whole person out of various brain scans, including Bex's.

Now he gets to try and come back to the real world. He's going back to school (personal memories are different from general knowledge, so they were able to either keep enough of that or add some stuff in so he's not held back), and now he doesn't answer to Beau anymore, because... I don't, he thinks it makes him sound like a redneck. Now he goes by Etty, or he'll answer to Rogue, just like his mama.

Ivy's back! I dropped her last activity check because she failed and I was too weenie to take the activity pass, so we'll say she just wandered off for 3 weeks. She probably lived in the woods.

Helloooo, it's me, I'm not dead. I've been playing the new Dragon Age nonstop and I'm just starting to ease up on it. I know I have a message for Jes that I need to tag (for... another one of my characters), but I wanted to touch base in the OOC and ask if it's okay if I backtag other posts that have gone up in this last week. If the moment's passed for some of them, I totally get it. :D

I've been out of service for a few days. D: I slept so little over the weekend that it caught up with me Sunday and Monday, so I've mostly been not-around because I've been unconscious. I owe tags, I owe log STARTS, I owe lots of stuff, and I promise I'm getting to all of it.

HOWEVER: next Tuesday, Dragon Age: Inquisition comes out, and I've been drooling over it for about a year. They may also have a midnight release, so there's a good chance I'll be fundamentally useless for a while starting on Monday night. I'll have to take breaks, obvs, but don't expect to see me on Tuesday or probably Wednesday.

Heeey, it's Jo again, with a SURPRISE CHARACTER. Although I guess only a surprise to... uhm.

Okay not a surprise at all, since he already has lines with half the game.

Anyhoodle, this is Roman Wisdom, son of Kitty Pryde and Pete Wisdom and older than his little bro by about 15 years. He cracked 40 a few years ago, officially making him the oldest person to ever person in New Avalon. But the IMPORTANT THING is that y'all probably don't like him.

IC, of course. So, a quick summary:

» Ryker's breakout happens in summer 2014, and Roman opts to stay in prison and defend the guards from escaping prisoners. He saves the warden, and as a result, warden pushes some papers around and gets Roman in front of a judge.

Hey peoples! I'd like some threads, so I made a list of ideas! I love me some flashbacks, and since that's our challenge theme thing for this month, I figured I'd kick this stuff off myself.

(Some people are missing from this --- namely Kait. I figured it's better to harass Kait in person instead. XD I also tried to only give 2 ideas per character to keep from being overwhelming.)

New faces for Jes and Marvel! Marvel announced hers IC, Jes is just a retcon.

H'okay. This would have been posted earlier if I had gotten my shit together, but... I didn't. Oh well. But this ties directly into our kraken stuff, so let's do a thing.

Seriously, even if you usually skim over new character intros, please read this! This character ties into some huge gamewide plot. It's ironic that Bear and Sands went "omg AU stuff" in the plot post when this was a bullet I had in the barrel.


So this is Fen McKenzie, daughter of Sue Storm and Namor -- with a twist! She's actually from an alternate reality, based on the What If? Civil War comic. In this reality (2108), Tony Stark died before Civil War and it all went bottoms up, resulting in an anti-metahuman president who brought back serious prejudice against powered people and outlawed all superheroes with SHIELD's backup.

Fen is a nurse by day, an illegal superhero by night, and went into a fight with ye olde kraken armed with a Reed Richards teleportation device that was supposed to take the thing out to sea but, uh... obviously didn't. Her device is broken, so now she's stuck here.


Fen, however, is kind of a gateway character. Details of the AU universe is over here, and I need y'all to help me flesh it out so I know where Fen's coming from -- and so we have a complete universe when the game actually starts interacting with that reality.

Kait and I have been discussing the possibility of a little AU community so we can write these versions of the characters and have somewhere to post them. It would be log-only, and probably wouldn't count for activity (at least not right now). We want to know if that's something you guys would be interested in and get your thoughts before we go ahead and set that up.

SO! There's a dinner at Jackie's house tonight, and sometime after dinner, Bel's gonna go into labor. She'll be in labor until tomorrow, but that's a thing that's going on. It's just a general head's up so everyone who's supposed to be over at Jack's place knows that's happening.

Hey hey hey, it's Jo again, down one Mercy Summers and plus one Ivy Logan.

This here Ivy is 28 -- but she SHOULD be 33, because five years ago she died during the District X Incident.

Let's rewind a bit: her parents are Echo and Wolverine, she's was born with lesser versions of her mom's reflexes and her dad's healing factor (as well as normal versions of dad's bone claws and feral senses) and was somewhat nomadic as a kid because she traveled with her dad or the X-Men or whatnot. As a teenager, she went to NAA, and then attended Juilliard for an undergrad in dance. She spent some time as a registered superhero, mostly running with the X-Men, and was recruited into the Avengers when she was 23. Five years later, she died during District X.

But! Ivy's aunt is Vanessa Fisk, New Avalon's resident Kingpin, and 20 years ago she promised her daddy that she'd look over Maya and Ivy even if Maya was meh about it. So the natural reaction was to find a mad scientist (aka, a villain that will be introduced as a Real Actual Bad Buy in the near future) to bring her back to life, after secretly vandalizing her grave and stealing her body. It took five years, but Dr. Not Yet Having Appeared In This Film developed a serum that posthumously boosted her healing factor.

(If you guessed that Dr. NYHAITF was behind the goblin clusterfuck, you're correct! He tested his second-to-last version of his serum on poor Abe. Everyone says "aw" very sadly.)

Her enhanced healing factor comes with a really big drawback: anything her brain classifies as traumatic? Wiped out. Total amnesia. At first it won't seem odd; she'll seem to just be missing memories of dying and coming back to life, which would happen to anybody, but she's also missing as-yet-to-be-defined events in her past that she doesn't know were wiped out. I figure I'll either decide that as I go along, or get her involved in other people's backstories in a traumatic way that can be highlighted later as a missing memory.

Being X-Royalty and generally a cool person (think... well, Wolverine), she should have a bunch of old connections! Friends, sibling-like relationships, actual siblings, rivals, etc. She's Dean Green's older sister, so she should definitely also know Dani Cage, and any and all X-kids may apply. And I know she went to school with a bunch of characters, too!
