Not really. Thanks to acting classes (and experience), any mumbling or stumbling or whatever was taken care of. He's articulate and he interviews well.
When he's stressed, drunk, or stops caring, his natural Bronx accent starts to come out. He deliberately uses a "neutral" American Northeastern accent because of his profession, but it is an effort. You're more likely to hear it in private.
Fair to say Mark is conflicted. He has a lot of insecurity and self-loathing, but he has parts of himself that he's proud of because of his recovery or his work. It's complicated.
Mark has a somewhat tenuous grip on his own mortality. He frequently has suicidal impulses and has acted on them in earnest at least once. For him it's a fight between wanting to live and feeling strongly about it, or just wanting to give up entirely because he's tired. Usually he's just careless.
He puts a higher value on other people than he does on himself in general, but he's not an "all people are made equal" kind of guy. He definitely doesn't have sympathy for people who die in the process of trying to murder or assault another person, and by the time that happened to him and he killed someone in self defense during the time freeze, he already had developed opinions about it. He doesn't really feel bad that someone who tried to kill him and his boyfriend is dead, but he doesn't like that it's something he was put through, just like he doesn't like that his mother has to deal with the mental damage that comes from killing another human being. Any guilt is on a more... I don't know how to phrase this, conceptual level? Philosophical? He wouldn't have done it if he'd had the option not to, because that's a heavy thing, but he wanted that man to live for the sake of his own mind, not because he thinks the guy didn't deserve to die for trying to kill him. In another scenario: he wouldn't personally kill anybody who sexually assaulted him, but he wouldn't stop someone else from doing it, and he wouldn't feel guilty.
