Welcome GreatestJournal Users
I have been in touch with the owner of GreatestJournal and their servers are overloaded. Due to this they are currently telling anyone who attempts to create a journal over there to come to InsaneJournal. We are prepared to accept you and hope you enjoy your time here. I know that the owner of GreatestJournal wants to give his user's the best experience possible.

But for the time being, feel free to make your home here.

Note: Please know that there is no conspiracy, GreatestJournal and InsaneJournal are independent sites, they are owned by independent people. This is what this is it is and nothing more.

Ex-GJ user here!

First off, thank you again for offering up your site! It is greatly appreciated.

I just had a question concerning ij's policy on deleting and purging journals. I've been with GJ since the begining, and never once have they done a purge - and to be honest, it was frustrating. Not only that, but they offered a donation option, where if we donated some money, we would get the user names of our choice; I personally know a lot of people who didn't even receive their usernames, and others who have but the quality of the website continued to decrease substantially and at a rather alarming rate! So, in lieu of this, I was just wondering if purges were going to be a common occurance around here? I know that on CommieJournal, they purge accounts that haven't been verified and I think that is a really great system, and keeps the amount of journal hogs down.

Thanks!

We don't have a hard policy set. We have had thoughts on it, but we don't have a good way to do it yet.

This is so wonderful to read; At another journal site, the main maker had a fit when people started coming over. Roleplayers have multiple journals for a reason. There was a huge uproar, and then new journals were being deleted left and right. It was so unwelcoming, nothing at all like this! Thank you!

Sorry to reply here, but the support section seems to be down at the moment. Has anyone else had the problem reported here? I know that I've had some trouble with it, as well as a few people on my friendslist.

Quick question, Squeaky: has anyone mentioned this error to you? It's strange. Your style for your comments seem to never want to load for me correctly. Just wondering!

That's an S2 style error that occurs when your layout isn't properly accessing the database. Normally refreshing a time or two will correct it, though it can also occur once there are just too many comments in a single thread and the S2 system doesn't know how to handle it.

Using an S1 style would prevent you from getting the error at all, but, generally, if you refresh the page, it'll go away on reload.

Thank you for allowing us all to join. But I DO have a quick question/concern..

I'm bringing over my RP accounts here with the rest of my game, and someone created 90% of my journals over here already JUST to piss me off. And it's blatantly obvious, since they changed the names in the info and such..

http://maleficentish.insanejournal.com/profile
http://enchantedwitch.insanejournal.com/profile
http://cinderellee.insanejournal.com/profile

Those are just a few of the ones they've done it with. Is there any way to fix it or am I just going to have to make new names? =]

Thank you! :D And this place seems amazing. ♥

Unfortunatly they now own those usernames. We don't currently have a policy regarding username hoarding or removing inactive accounts.

I know that the owner of GreatestJournal wants to give his user's the best experience possible.

I hope to God that's true. 'cause all I can say is that it certainly doesn't SEEM like he does. I'm much preferring it over here, where we actually get a straight answer out of an admin.

This might not be the place for it, but I'm wondering if anything can be done about "username hoarding," especially when it's obviously malicious? I've a friend whose had a bunch of her RP usernames taken and there are things in the userinfos that make it very obvious that is was done maliciously just to screw with her. Can anything be done in these situations? I know usernames are first come, first serve, but this is different from a case of more than one person wanting the same name and if it's happening once, it wouldn't surprise me if other people start to experience the same thing.

I just moved here from GJ, and I wanted to say thank you already because you're actually replying to comments in here, something I haven't ever seen at LJ or GJ.

Thanks.

GJ user here. I moved here today after I saw that GJ had dropped to 10 icons. I appreciate having a place to go besides LJ. So thanks!

I was really worried that you'd be upset when GJ started migrating here because we're a LOT to deal with for sure, but this post was so welcoming. It's really great to feel like we're not a burden, even if I'm sure we probably are. Thanks man.

I do have a question though. Is there any program that allows you to upload your userpics at once? GJ had the icon loader program and I was wondering if that worked here or if there was some place we could go to ask for it. I have no idea where to begin with that.

thank you so much squeaky for being so welcoming to us. apparently greatestjournal finally died after putting us through hell for a while now so i'm fully prepared to move here completely as of today. it's also nice to know that you, unlike ~system, keep in touch with all of us about whats happening with this site. it's nice to see a maintainer that actually cares about the users and not someone whos just... there.

thank you again for everything.
