Welcome GreatestJournal Users

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
I have been in touch with the owner of GreatestJournal and their servers are overloaded. Due to this they are currently telling anyone who attempts to create a journal over there to come to InsaneJournal. We are prepared to accept you and hope you enjoy your time here. I know that the owner of GreatestJournal wants to give his user's the best experience possible.

But for the time being, feel free to make your home here.

Note: Please know that there is no conspiracy, GreatestJournal and InsaneJournal are independent sites, they are owned by independent people. This is what this is it is and nothing more.
  • You're awesome, enough said! XD
  • Wow, it's just turning into a windfall month for you isn't it!
  • Way to lend a helping hand! Well done!
  • You're so kind! :) I feel very happy I got a permanent account, with permanent extra userpics for this site! You guys really deserve it. :)
  • Woo! Invasion!

Nah, just kidding. Thanks for the heads up!
  • *worries, but isn't at all surprised* The system can handle the user influx, right?
  • Aha. I crosspost to a GJ, and I'd been wondering why it seemed to take so long to post something there. It's really great, though, that you guys are taking a cooperative approach to dealing with it, rather than a competitive one. It's one of the reasons I really like it here. :)
  • Dude, that's...I cant even FATHOM the "other place" doing something like that. I have a GJ as well, but it's been sending me spam lately. I'm guessing they got a bug.

Very cool of you to extend a welcome and a helping hand.

This is why I love this place.
  • (Anonymous)
    GJ user here.

Just wanting to know, since you're in touch with them -- are they shutting down? ._. We can't seem to get a word from them at all yet...
  • Thanks for the heads up, I use it very little, but I wanted to enter an RPG and realised that I couldn't make a new account *sigh*

Hopefully IJ can play host to everybody till they fic things (or they can move the RPG here).

    Keep up the good work
  • Oh wow neat. Wonder what this is going to mean for the roleplayers. I know I've been muttering about the decreased icons there and the fact that even THEN, you can upload your hundred icons and the next day 35 of them will be dead links. Poor GJ, it's gotten rooted in the delicate server area lately.
  • Incidentally - I am just now changing the userinfo of [info]07refugees. Ex-GJ users are welcome to join the asylum. It's a migration community for those of us who've come to IJ from other journal servers this year due to mismanagement, customer service fuck ups, technical problems, etc, and is a good place to keep up to date on the problems still going on.
  • Awww, you're having a great month, aren't you? I get all warm and fuzzy seeing you be so... open and interacting with your userbase. :D~ ♥

    Welcome, GJ users!
  • *big hugs*

Insanejournal would be perfect if not for those annoying and un-get-riddable-of messages from your evil other self that lurks on the home page...
  • I'm a new user, from livejournal. I found this through
[info]ladyphoenix9, who also came from livejournal.
I used LJ for five years, and after hearing about the
"new era" for LJ, I decided it was time for something
different. I just hope I can get most of my LJ friends
to make the jump too... :)

Either way, LJ isn't getting any more money from me... IJ is! :)

...too bad you guys don't do embeded video,
but I have a public blog I can use for that from
    now on. (it's my website)
  • Awsome. Again! ♥
  • Just a random thought, but you may want to add a disclaimer or something in you FAQ about how "celebrity" journals aren't real. I know GJ has/had one, but I didn't see one on IJ. Better safe than sorry!
  • I expect that you're going to continue to have a pretty big influx of folks coming from 'over there' - including most of the members of several large communities. One of mine was already mirrored over here (Dark_Christian)- after the 'great strikeout' of last summer.

I'm glad you're able to take us, but hope you have more servers in your budget! I'll help out by getting a Permanently Insane account, and encouraging my friends to do so, too.
  • Looking for help

    (Anonymous)
Hi. I'm a refugee. See, two days ago I left LJ because it was sold to SUP, and I joined GJ (moved my whole journal -- ~500 entries -- over, too. Then I found things on GJ were, uh, somewhat broken. Then today I see an announcement they said, our servers are overloaded, go to IJ. I am a little upset right now. There seemed to be a lot to like about GJ, but I'm worried about the stability over there and would kind of like an online journal where everything works. Basically like LJ but not owned by a Russian company. Are you able to handle a large influx of folk like me? I'm thinking of perhaps starting an account here and keeping my GJ one, too. If moving all my stuff would tax you I can hold off unless GJ gets worse. Hate to move again and get screwed or screw things up for others.
  • wow. GJ has always been slow for me. i don't use it anymore. i've already started moving my writing and stuff here.

and if we do need to move to a bigger server, i know i would totally buy my friends account goodies to help pay for it.

oh! and i remember how there were comments on the last post about how the thought the colors were ...um, bright.
but i don't really mind them. you could for all reasoning do something like hot pink and puke green with splatters of blue, red and brown. now that would be insane.

but, i was thinking a reddish color and grey. but meh. i'm just tossing out ideas. actually the colors on this journal are easy on the eyes.
  • Hey Squeaky.

Was reading the news over on GJ, and you might want to make a reminder on here that the free account friending limit is 1000, not 100 and that paid/permanent users can have unlimited friends. Several people are still under the impression that it's 100 over there.

Also, you might want to mention that the interface look can be changed through the site options, if they don't like the standard interface of the site.

I think that would alleviate some of the issues users over there have. :)
  • Just thought I'd say hello. I just purchased a permanent account. Even if it weren't for all the goings-on at LJ, I feel much better supporting a site where the owner/admin is friendly and accessible, rather than supporting some giant, faceless, dodgy corporation.

Just as a side note- and I totally understand if you're way too busy to answer this- is the mobile IJ site known to be working properly? I would like to be able to access the site with my BlackBerry, but for some reason I can't get my login to work, either on the Mobile version or on the regular site. Is this a known issue, or should I contact my cell phone carrier?
  • I realise this is an odd question, and probably one you've been asked before, but I'm curious. How did you come up with the idea of having an 'insane' journal? It's a pretty random choice for the theme, isn't it*?

*But absolutely amazing and we wouldn't have it any other way. <3 Tweak

  • Just wanted to say thank you for being so welcoming. We don't get much information from the powers that be over at GJ, and it's very frustrating, because we never know when another service is going to vanish. The site has become horribly unstable because of it's popularity, and I'm not sure the problems are fixable at this point.

Can you tell me... now that you've opened your arms to GJ users, are you really prepared to take on what could be a massive migration? The RPG that I belong to is considering moving here, and I created this journal to check out IJ, get a feel for how it's different/similar. I like what I see here so far, but I'm worried many others will as well, and I'd hate to see your site fall apart from the same influx that seems to be destroying GJ. I don't know squat about servers and all the tech stuff, I'm just curious if you've crunched the numbers to see if this site will be able to handle a massive jump in population.
  • nice to see you lending a helping hand like this!
