"Of course, Black." Hermione tried not to take a tone when saying the name but it was very hard. The Black's name had been tainted almost as much as Lestrange, Malfoy, Goyle, Crabbe... Was it really any better? "Apologies."
Ringing a magical bell on the table, she let her assistant know to bring in tea and refreshments. A few moments later, a young man, sharp and well put together made his way in and set the tray down. He smiled at both women before leaving.
Pouring them both a cup, Hermione then set the teapot down.
Hermione found her gaze lingering on Narcissa's elegant calf before she pulled her eyes away.
Noticing the slip, Hermione pondered it for a moment but chose not to remark on it. "Nevertheless, you have conditions that you must abide by. These are the same conditions applied to others with your previous associations. Therefore, I have been assigned to monitor your function."
Hermione wasn't much more pleased about it that Narcissa was. She was a highly placed diplomat that had negotiated treaties of great importance. Why had she been chosen to babysit a socialite preparing for a party?
No matter how much she tried to find out, Hermione never received a decent answer.
"Well, now that we are clear about at least one of the regulations in place, do you have the paperwork prepared?" Hermione asked, taking a moment to consult her notes.
