    Time Event
    3:16a
Who: Laura Madley and Gwenog Jones
What: First day of classes. Flying class!
    When: Wednesday, September 5.
    Where: The Quidditch Pitch.
    Rating: Who knows?!

Laura was so happy to be back at Hogwarts. No matter what changes there were and what bad memories and what scars there were, she was happy to be back at school. As a seventh year the school was hers. She had longed to be an upperclassman since she was an ickle first year. And, now, she was!

However, some wind had come out of her sails when she found out their were changes to the curriculum at the school. There were a lot more required classes. Being that she loved to learn, she took most of them anyways. She and Hermione Granger were tied for the most classes though they didn't share them all.

Unlike other studious witches and wizards at the school, Laura was also quite social. She was always invited to the parties and considered one of the most popular girls in school. It was a tough balancing act sometimes between scholarly witch and social witch but she thought she managed it pretty well.

In the mandatory classes, Laura found the first bad thing about the year. Everyone was required to take flying! She hadn't taken the class since first year. Now she had to talk it as a seventh? It was so unfair!

She protested to the head of her house to no avail. It was hard to complain too because there was a new teacher, some Quidditch star, that everyone was really excited about. Whereas Laura couldn't care less about Quidditch even if she pretended to like it at least a little for social reasons...

Standing down by the pitch, she tired not to fidget as Heidi Macavoy went on and on and on about Quidditch. It seemed that the replacement for Madame Hooch was a favorite among a lot of the students.

    Her name did sound familiar...

Standing in Quidditch robes, an odd look for her, she wore black and yellow just like the rest of hr house. She had to borrow a set from Heidi since she had failed to notice them on the list of required items for the year. It was a miracle she had remembered to bring her broom! Laura had forgotten in her fifth year.

The September afternoon was quite nice. It would have been wonderful if Laura hadn't been trying to calm her nerves. Anxiously, she waited for the new teacher to show herself.
