Martell pride had kept her moving and then Jaehaerys had annoyed her into being too angry to do anything but think of ways to shove him off his damn horse... but as the hunting party dispersed and she found herself walking through halls nearly alone, the sound of a bowstring seemed to be echoing in her head.
Her guards weren't letting her out of their sights and for once she didn't mind Dymon hovering. She reached her rooms and shut the door, leaning against it as she tried to breathe. Oh gods. And the only crystal clear thought was 'Myrwin's going to be so angry with me.' It didn't last long of course. The next shadowy thought was one of Aeria. Why hadn't she come? Her sister never missed a-- She was shaking. Assassins, arrows, all of it loomed up at once and threatened to swallow her as the contents of her head started to tumble around like blocks in a toy chest.
She found herself sliding to the floor by the couch, staring blankly back at the door she'd just come through, though it was oddly blurry. Elia belatedly realized she was crying.
