[mod] Cities And Major Regions
As much of the detail as possible about the cities and regions in advent_princes is derived directly from the game itself, however to make these places more usable in a non-linear game, they've been expanded and details have been added or altered slightly. These are only the cities of Final Fantasy VII; special locations, mountain passes, etc. are not going to be listed. Areas like the City of the Ancients should be considered off-limits and/or unknown to the general population.
These are only general guidelines, and details can be added to or expanded on as need be. Players are welcome to add to the basic descriptions of these places.
[Midgar]
Once the largest city on the northwestern continent, Midgar is two-tier city built on six large plates, which cover six lower sectors. After the first war with Sephiroth and Jenova, Midgar sustained considerable damage to the upper plate, the location of ShinRa's original headquarters. Efforts were initially made to reconstruct the city; however, others, seeing a chance to escape from the oppressive plates over their heads, focused their attention on a second city at the end of the wasteland around Midgar, known as Edge. In the end, even Shinra Corp moved its main headquarters from Sector I of Midgar to Edge.
And once Shinra left, the city started its serious decline.
The city is located in the middle of a vast, unnatural wasteland; once lush, green plains, the area has been drained of life by the large Mako reactors that once powered the Shinra cooperation. There is considerable damage to the city; first from the Meteor strike some seventeen years prior, then from decay and the general disinterest of the remaining citizens. The city no longer has one central governing body; instead, various crime lords, dons and kingpins run their own sectors and struggle for power with one another. It is rumored that these men and women meet in secret enclaves to decide the fate of the city, and that they are tied to Rufus Shinra.
Gangs run rampant, but the hold of the crime lords is firm. Midgar, oncethe beacon of technology and industry, is now konow as the place to seek out the most illicit of pursuits.
