Who: Bastien, Klaus and Alice Where: The Mikaelson Estate When: Week ???, Monday after the party What: Unintentional family bonding with Alice stuck in the middle. And not in a sexy way. Rating: TBD Status: Closed/In progress
The talk with the Mikaelsons had been an endeavor, something Alice had been sure would lead to her swift and bloody end. She at least thought Rebekah liked her enough to grant her a swift death, anyway. What she had found in the two more reasonable Mikaelson siblings had been something much more akin to understanding, as much understanding as a vampire could have with an admitted Slayer, anyhow. It wasn't to say she wasn't nervous about her situation. To be brought out in the open to one of the most ancient vampire families was hardly a relief, but Bastien had assured her that it would be alright. He'd promised, and he hadn't betrayed her so far or exploited the power that came with essentially owning her, not even knowing what she was. She wasn't sold on the idea that it would all be okay just yet, but she was getting there.
At least to the point where she could thank him again.
Biting her lower lip, Alice lingered outside of the door to his room. Though not comparable to the senses of a Supernatural, her own enhanced ones could tell that he was there. It was simple, really. Knock. Thank him. Move on with her life. It was a wonder she was still so nervous, and yet she feared she always would be to some extent. Not because of what he was but because of what she knew she was. Even if she trusted him and wanted him to trust her, could he really do so and ever be truly safe? The Watchers, at least her Watcher, would never hear of it.
"Getting cold feet are we, Slayer?" Alice froze where she stood as the dangerously soft words rang in her ears. She knew that voice, and she didn't want to turn and face it. Yet, the Slayer in her, that resolve and strength that so few would see, forced her to do so. She tensed, fists balled at her sides. Niklaus Mikaelson was perhaps the most dangerous of them all. She knew him by reputation alone. Unhinged, frequently without reason... There had been reason enough for Bastien to wish to speak to him alone without her, and here she stood. Alone with the only wild card in the Mikaelson house.
"You know, he'll be glad to see you. He's needed a bit of something since..." Klaus' voice trailed off, and he sighed, not entirely insincere. "When I told him he ought to go an buy himself a new toy, I hadn't thought he'd wander off and bring home a Slayer of all things." The vampire's smile was like venom, but Alice didn't tremble or shake. She stared back at him, unafraid and yet all too aware that she should've been fearing for her life at that moment. "Basten and his exquisite tastes... I suppose we'll see if you're a true threat to us in due time. You aren't, are you? Come, love. You can be honest with me. We're practically family now."
"Can I help you, Mr. Mikaelson?" she asked, her voice only wavering slightly. "I was going to have a nice, honest talk with my Master, totally with our clothes on and everything before you get creepy and weird about it." The girl winced, more at her own lack of tact than her life threatening situation. "Not that you're... You know. I did't mean to imply that you're creepy and weird."
