Zack: *snorts in amusement at the comment someone had just tossed out about the incoming class* That's just mean, Hayes. Anyway, I think we should take this path for the games. *gestures with his sandwich at the map they were grouped around*

Hendriks: Only if we're crazy like you. No offense, but not everyone has a sword shield master weapon of doom. Or wants one ::makes a face::

Zack: No kidding. Just makes me that much more awesome. *shameless grin* No, I picked this way because, if you notice, nobody sane would pick that way. How much do you want to be all their plans guard against the more sensible paths, but mostly ignore this one?

Hendriks: I hate when you remind people you're smart, y'know that? ::he leaned and nudged Hayes with his elbow:: I think he's outsmarted us again.

Zack: Shhh, you'll give me away. I don't want people to think that I have any sort of possible brains. Let them keep up their rumors. Just makes it that much funnier when I kick their asses. *feral grin*

Hendriks: ::just laughs, both at the disgruntled look he got from the man by him, as well as the words:: Sure, sure, but I still think it's crazy. Just as a note.

Zack: *waves the sandwich at him again* It is. I admit that fully. I also figure I'm going up first. *wry grin* If I didn't, nobody else would try, and, as you said, I got the shield of a sword.

Hendriks: I'm glad you'll be the one doing it then.

Sephiroth: ::had been listening to the conversation as he approached the table, and just reaches to snatch the food being waved around, taking a single prim bite:: They know Zack is part of the team. I'd expect that means they'd expect him to do something unexpected.

Zack: Hey! My food! And they know I am, but they don't expect anyone to listen to me. Remember? I just slept my way to the top. Gimme! *makes a grab back for his food.*

Hayes: *blinks, then glances at Hendriks. Was he seeing that?*

Sephiroth: ::turns slightly to avoid Zack's grab, continuing to nibble as he gave him an arch look:: You were hardly eating it.

Hendriks: ::blinks, rubs a hand over his eyes, blinks again. Nods a little at Hayes. Yeah, never in his life thought he'd see the General eat after someone else. He'd never done it before, not even when provisions were shot out on the field. So, hints of hallucination weren't entirely uncalled for.::

Zack: Was too. See, big old bite there. *points* Gimme!

Sephiroth: ::hums and considers, nibbling on it a bit more as he just peered down at him:: Why would I do that?

Zack: *scowls faintly* You are just going to keep delaying until you've eaten it all, aren't you?

Sephiroth: Is that something that I would do Zack?

Zack: In a heartbeat. *sticks his tongue out at the man* Fine. You keep that. I'm going to get me more food. *hops over the table, barely clearing Hayes' head* Food thief.

Sephiroth: ::reaches over and collects the man's drink as well, settling into the now vacated seat:: Are you lot going to agree to Zack's choice then?

Hayes: *eyes the man* Don't know yet. You do know that Zack -has- been drinking out of that, yes?

Sephiroth: I noticed ::meets the man's eyes, well aware that both the men were looking at him. He also knew that Zack had no idea about this particular stigma of his.::

Hayes: *glances at Hendriks again* All right. Just a surprise is all, Sir.

Hendriks: ::catches the look out of the corner of his eye and shrugs just a bit. He didn't know what the hell was going on.::

Sephiroth: I expect it would be.

Hayes: *speculative look at him* You been hearing the rumors about the kid at all?

Sephiroth: As to where he's been? ::eyebrow quirk::

Hayes: As to how he got his spot in SOLDIER. *shrugs* We know it's not true, but you still might want to keep an eye on the kid. *is the man was going to be friendly enough to actually eat after Zack, well, who better to keep an eye on him?*

Sephiroth: He's well behaved in that respect. ::finishes off the sandwich with a small flourish, then quirks an eyebrow:: I need not be told my business about him though, if that was the intent.

Hayes: *sighs and looks at the other SOLDIER again. He wasn't sure if the general got what he was trying to say or not*

Hendriks: ::grimaces a little. Just because he'd been there longer didn't mean he knew the guy any better:: General, sir ::glances to make sure that Zack himself wasn't about to walk up on them.:: Do you have any idea what we're saying?

Sephiroth: You're trying to ascertain if I'm familiar with the rumors of Zack having made rank on his back. ::gives them both an arch look:: Correct?

Hayes: *nods* Just wanted to make sure. It didn't help that you started to be, well...friendly. *pauses* In a you sort of way.

Sephiroth: ::pointedly finishes off Zack's drink, then sets the container quietly on the table:: Had he, he would be dead now. Thus, I fail to see how the rumors are any concern of mine.

Hayes: To you, it's not. *shakes his head* Never mind, Sir. You might want to let Zack know you finished off his drink, too. He'll want to snag another of those while he's up there.

Sephiroth: ::releases the container and pushes to his feet:: Now why would I go and do that?

Hendriks: ...Because it would be nice sir?

Hayes: *snorts* Obviously Zack isn't aware of how much you like him, Sir.

Sephiroth: ::just looks from one to the other and then gives them a chill look:: I believe you read too much into things.

Hendriks: ...If you say so sir.

Hayes: *holds his hands up* All right. But we aren't the only ones who will.

Zack: *wanders back up, and pauses, looking at them all* What did I miss?

Sephiroth: If that is the case, then that will be the case. ::looking at them both for a moment, he let the chill fade out of his look and glanced over Zack's tray::

Zack: *moves the tray away from the man* Mine. *eyes them all* Seriously, what did I miss?

Sephiroth: ::hums and gestures at the table, stepping away from it:: just talk.

Hendriks: ::not sure if he's really going to risk saying anything while mister silver and scary is still standing there::

Zack: *puts a hand on his sandwich, just to make sure, and sits* I'm not sure if I like this. *bit suspicious, and ignoring the eyes on the back of his head.* But as long as everything is okay....

Sephiroth: Hmm. I wouldn't advise getting comfortable. ::quirks his lips, more malicious then amused, or so it would appear, and turns on his heel to stride off to leave the room::

Zack: *dots at him* I'm not sure if I liked that smile. *gives them a slightly confused look* What did I do wrong now?

Hendriks: ::watches the man walk away before turning to Zack and answering:: You didn't do anything wrong, that was more, erm, our fault. Just so you know, you're the first person we've ever heard about him eating after. Ever.

Zack: *blank look* So? Maybe he just liked my sandwich. *glances after Sephiroth, and takes a bite, just to try to eat it before Seph changes his mind and comes back for it*

Hayes: *shakes his head* Kid, no. -Ever-. He refused to eat after anyone in Wutai.

Hendriks: As in, even when it was obvious he was about to keel over from hunger, and we're talking Sephiroth being obvious, he wouldn't take food after someone else had taken a bite out of it.

Zack: That's weird.... *shifts* Ah, hells. *sighs* Just what I don't need....

Hendriks: He drank your drink too.

Zack: *scowls* Bastard. If I choke and die, it's his fault. *isn't going to fight the line again*

Hendriks: ::wry smile:: You can have some of mine if it comes to that.

Zack: *runs a hand through his hair* If I need it. *proceeds to wolf his sandwich down* Got to hurry, or we won't have time to chat with the others before the exercise. *does choke a bit, but just coughs through it*

Hendriks: ::leans over to bang on his back:: Go with speed then kid.

Zack: Thanks. *mutters* Make me explain it. *grabs the stuff and runs off.*

Hayes: *just shakes his head* So, how bad do you think it'll get before one of them does something? Cause I don't care what Sephiroth says, he likes the kid.

Hendriks: ::watches Zack take off and sighs:: I have no clue, but I'm not all that sure it'll be good for Zack, even if the General could use a little thawing.

Hayes: Howso? *was curious, as hadn't been in as long, and knew he still had some to learn about how politics went in this part of the military. Hadn't gotten his SOLDIER upgrades till just before the end of the war*

Hendriks: In spite of the rumor mill, I've never seen that kid with anyone, and if the man's actions today mean even a little bit... well, I guess I should hope like hell that the kid isn't straight, if you're catching me. The General is honorable and all, on the battlefield, but this is new territory.

Hayes: *blinks, then gets it* Aw, hells. Not something I want to have to teach the General of all people about. *pauses* And we are forgetting one major factor.

Hendriks: Enlighten me.

Hayes: Hojo.

Hendriks: Yay. Any way you can turn that light back off?

Hayes: *snorts* Right. If I have to have that horrible image, so do you. *twitches a bit* The man is creepy enough with us poor little nobodies. I've seen him around Sephiroth.

Hendriks: I did -not- want -that- image and I know it wasn't -your- image.

Hayes: *makes a face* I think we should go wash whatever images out with alcohol. *nods* Then we should sit down and figure out how involved we're going to let ourselves get. I like the kid, I really do, but he's a SOLDIER. He can do a lot for himself.

Hendriks: Yep. He can. And you realize we just left him to man a group of cadets in a tricky exercise?

Hayes: Yep.

Hendriks: Think we should call ahead to made sure there's a Restore and potions on hand?

Hayes: He's good. Maybe we shouldn't. Doubt he'd much care for us showing so little faith.

Hendriks: Good point ::muses a moment:: Beer?

Hayes: Sure. Maybe something stronger as well. *makes a face again* A lot stronger. So, you buying?

Hendriks: Life Shots then. ::nods a little and then eyes him a moment:: Only the first round.

Hayes: All right. We'll flip for it after that. *stands up* Let's go.

Hendriks: ::gets together the trash left on the table and piles it to pick up:: As long as we're not using your coin again.

Hayes: You wound me.... *snags the last of the trash, and goes to toss it* Anyway, let's pretend this conversation never happened.

Hendriks: I can do that. ::tosses the trash and heads for the door. To the bar!::
