Title: cold remedy Author: snapesgirl Rating: g Prompt Set: 50.4 Prompt: never Word Count: 143 Summary: Aurora's friends want to cure her head cold Warnings: Notes: unbeta'd. Set while she is a student
Aurora gave an explosive sneeze and settled back in bed. She glowered at her dorm mates who were clustered around debating what to give her for her cold.
“If you think I’m drinking something you brewed, think again. I will never trust you lot after last Yule.”
“Aurora, be sensible. It’s almost the hols and you have a head cold. You either drink this, or see Pomfrey.”
She gave a dramatic shudder at the mention of the school’s new Healing Matron. Madam Pomfrey already had a reputation for harsh cures when she suspected a student of skieving. “I’m not trusting her, even if she was in Ravenclaw.”
“Then take your medicine.” Roland held out a steaming mug.
“What is it?”
“Hot buttered Rum, it won’t cure you. However, you will not care about being ill and we all will be able to sleep.”
Title: Father Christmas Author: snapesgirl Rating: g Prompt Set: 50.4 Prompt: fall Word Count: 225 Summary: watching the snow fall brings a surprise Warnings: Notes: unbeta'd. Set early in her teaching career
Snow flakes fell out of the night sky. Aurora stood on her Tower and looked for a break in the clouds. This was her current excuse for being up here. The last lesson ended hours ago. To be honest, this was her favorite part of the day. All of the students were in bed, the castle was quiet, and she could view the stars and planets to her heart’s content.
“Limited viewing or no.” She murmured. She heard a soft jingle of bells and looked about in surprise.
“I see you are up late again, young lady.” Professor Dumbledore stepped out onto the tower roof. He looked around as if admiring the view.
She coughed to cover a giggle. The Headmaster looked like an eccentric Father Christmas, all done up in purple and gold instead of the traditional red or green and white.
“I find it helps me to relax if I spend a bit of time up here after the last lesson of the night.”
“Just as long as you don’t tarry up here on Christmas Eve. It wouldn’t do to delay Father Christmas’ visit to our castle.” Dumbledore left with another soft chiming of the bells on his hat.
Aurora let her mouth fall open in disbelief. Surely a wizard of his advanced age knew better than to believe in that particular legend.
