Who: Krissy, with brief appearances and mentions of Max, Will, Lorne What: Packing up When: Backdated to the morning the pack left Everett Where: Prison
Leaving had never been hard for Krissy. She had grown up on the road, traveling from city to city with her father as he hunted down vampires, werewolves, demons, monsters.
Now, so many things had changed. Whenever she caught herself thinking back on it, realizing how many things had changed by now, it was still overwhelming to think about it all. All it had taken was a zombie apocalypse to send her world spinning, and somehow she was still standing. She didn't understand how, but she had managed to survive on her own after her father had died. She had met Will, and Winston. They had arrived in Everett, she had learned to live among supernatural beings and had even made friends with so many of them. She had almost died, more than once, and now...
And now she was a werewolf. Now she was something that her father himself would have hunted down. Would he have changed his mind about the supernatural like she had? Would he have wanted her to die instead, rather than take the bite as something that could save her life? She didn't know, but any guilt she felt over it was getting easier to just...push away as the days passed. Allison was right, they weren't their parents. She had gotten a second chance at life, and she couldn't just waste it in worrying about what her father would have said or done. Her friends - that second family that Krissy had essentially picked for herself were what mattered now, and they were all supportive and happy for her, for being okay.
That's what made it all so hard to leave now. Krissy had ended up with so many new people in her life that had meant so much to her. People that had been with her, through the good and the bad, and while she was leaving with a lot of them, it wasn't all of them. She'd be leaving behind Faith. She'd be leaving behind Sarah Mary. Darcy. The Ewings. The Winchesters. God, she'd be leaving behind Abigail. Krissy understood why the pack needed to leave and go to Canada, and in certain ways she agreed that they had to go somewhere else, but she wished she could just take everyone with her. It was childish, to want to throw a fit and essentially make everyone that she was leaving behind pack up their things and go with them, but even if she was just sixteen, she knew. She understood why they couldn't, and sometimes that was the bitch of it all.
As she finished packing up her things, she left two things on her bed. One was her baseball mitt, one that she had ever since she was just a little girl learning how to play catch. With it she left a piece of paper, signed simply with Sarah Mary, play a lot of baseball games for me, yeah? I already know you're going to kick ass.
The second, was a bracelet that she wore every day. It had been one of her most priced possessions, because it was an amulet that her father had given her for good luck and good vibes, but there was one person that Krissy wanted to leave it to. Someone that had meant a lot to Krissy, because in so many ways she had been a big part of her second family even if she never explicitly told her, but she hoped that the message would come across now. Krissy hadn't mentioned the gift to Faith, but she left it in an envelope with her name on it, along with another note: I think you'll have better luck with this than I will. Thanks for everything, Faith.
Looking behind her shoulder, over at her cell, she paused for a moment before she forced herself to keep walking. Will was waiting for her, and she offered him a small smile that she couldn't force to stay on her face for very long. They were really leaving, and somehow it felt like her heart was going to burst from her chest as they walked towards the garage. They were really leaving. They were really going to leave Abigail behind, and that made her want to cry all over again. She had promised her that she would always be with her, that she wouldn't leave her. How could she go? Her throat felt like it was closing, but before she lost the battle against herself, she promised Will that she'd be back and went out to look for Max. While on sentry lately they had been spending a lot of time together, just hanging out and sparring from time to time, but instead of any small talk or even saying goodbye, she asked something instead, "Can you do me a favor?"
Max nodded, brow furrowing slightly. "Sure, kid. What's up?"
Taking off a pendant, she pressed it into Max's hand. "It's for Abigail. Can you.. Can you make sure she gets it?"
For a moment Max could only stare at her, before she gave her a small reassuring smile. "Yeah. I'll make sure she gets it."
Krissy gave a nod, even if she felt more numb than relieved about the reassurance, and before Max could ask if she was okay she just walked away. As she did so, she passed by the kitchen and made a beeline for where she knew she could find Lorne, and hugged him as tightly as she could. The moment was quiet, but with one look it felt like it was more important than anything else, and she smiled shakily at him before she hugged him again and walked back to the garage. Someone said something, but Krissy didn't really hear them; she just climbed into the car, and hugged her backpack close to her.
It was time to go. Leaving had never been hard, but no place had ever offered her a family like Everett had, and she just hoped that those that stayed behind would be okay. And that they'd know how much she'd miss them, because it felt like there was a piece of her heart being torn off as the car began to drive away.
The familiar scents around her were comforting, though, and she tried to focus on that. On her pack. On the part of her family that was coming with her, and she let her gaze get lost in the trees just outside the window as they drove out of town.
