Who: Emily, Steve, and later Alec
What: A walk and then someone is naughty
When: Tomorrow
Where: The wilderness outside the prison to start
Warnings: Kidnapping and someone being a big, cranky bully
The minute Captain Rogers told Emily he had a chance to radio in her parents so that they could actually talk to one another, she didn't hesitate. It had been a last minute deal because of how communications were now, even in the military, so she quickly asked Penny to take over her afternoon housekeeping shift and told her she would make it up to her. The other girl was so happy for her that she was having the chance to talk to her parents that Emily knew she wouldn't hold her to it. Maybe she could stop on the way back with Captain Rogers and pick up someone for them to enjoy later that night once she got back.
His news came at the best time possible too. Emily had tried to find Spencer after the message from Gossip Girl had been left and mentioned A. The bitch had left Emily messages before, but it wasn't so direct and A hadn't been a part of it. Her worst fears had started to come to light and she began to wonder if maybe A wasn't as gone as she'd thought, but thankfully her shift started and she buried herself in her jobs for the afternoon and then she got the message from Steve. Of course she would meet him. There was no question about it.
When Emily got to the fence a little early, Steve was already there. She signed herself out to leave with him and they were on their way. Ever since the trouble with the hell god started, she hadn't been leaving the prison to visit Logan and Laura like she had been at first, but she still made sure to see them at least once or twice a week. Life always seemed so simple with the two mutants. No secrets threatening to come out and ruin everything and no hidden agendas. What you saw was what you got with Laura and Logan and she appreciated that about them so much. She didn't feel like she had to play a part or be someone else with them. There were no expectations. She was simply Emily Fields learning how to survive and fight on her own. She liked to think that she provided some company for them too, but Emily was just grateful for the new friendships and the distraction from everything else that had come to a head.
"Thank you so much for this," she said to Steve. "I don't know anything about the technical side of this sort of thing, but thank you. My parents are going to want to adopt you themselves or something." Which was ridiculous since the Captain was older than both of her parents combined, but she knew her mother was going to gush even more than she was herself.
She didn't know how far the base was from the prison, but the cold wasn't even bothering her that badly. Her mood had gone from zero to cloud nine in a matter of moments. "Does Tony think he'll be able to have the radio signal open full time once he works out the kinks?"
