”Prada!” Lydia called down the hallway, as she went in search of the Papillon. She really didn’t like it when she just wandered, but she could easily squeeze through the bars of the cell. It was dangerous here. Very dangerous. And Lydia didn’t want anything to happen to her sweet girl. Having Prada was a comfort. Lydia had been so surprised when she’d just shown up out of nowhere. But others had gotten gifts from home as well. “Prada, you get back here this instant,” Lydia said, trying not to panic. She didn’t like to wander alone after the incident with Richie Gecko. They were on good terms now, and she’d accepted his apology but she was still wary of wandering even the prison on her own. What was up with the lights in this hallway anyway? They kept going in and out. That was foreboding enough, but Lydia wasn’t going to just give up and let Prada come back when she wanted to. She might get into trouble. It was times like these, she wished Prada was a pit bull. No chance of that dog squeezing through any bars. And she wouldn’t be in this uber-creepy situation now. This seemed like the beginning to a horror movie, a girl looking for her dog on a poorly lit street. The only difference was, Lydia was inside. And a banshee. She could defend herself if she needed to. Her encounter in the woods had proved that. Still, she had a bad feeling about all of this. “Stupid dog,” Lydia muttered under her breath as she continued down the hallway. She was going to have to look at the breakers for this part or have someone change the lights or something. This shouldn’t have been happening. She considered turning back and going to find someone who could help her locate Prada, but there was no telling where she might have gotten off to if she did. And she didn’t want to bother Scott with something so mundane. As she was passing a room, she spotted Allison inside. That was...odd. She didn’t see her come down here and didn’t know why she’d be in there at all. Still, Lydia paused and walked inside. “Allison, have you seen Prada? I know she came down here, but I can’t find her and she’s not coming when I call her.” She was worried enough about her dog at the moment that she hadn’t quite noticed something was off about her best friend. |
