WHO: Kate and Clint WHAT Hawkeyes meet in person. WHEN: Bendy times WHERE: One of the sentry towers WARNINGS: Probably none
It was that Kate had been actively avoiding Clint, she had just been in places where he wasn't. Maybe a bit on purpose. Because it hurt that he didn't know her. Clint was one of the most important people in her life, maybe even the most important. He had shaped her life in so many ways, some of which he didn't even know because he was, at heart, a clueless dork. But she loved him anyway, even when he could drive her crazy with his actual human disaster ways, never believing that he was deserving of happiness. They were the Hawkeyes and they were partners.
Except now they weren't. He was from that other timeline, the one where she didn't even seem to exist. Which, ow. Right in the heart.
But she didn't have time to wallow in her hurt feelings. There were zombies to kill and people to protect. So she was climbing up to the sentry tower, her bow slung over her shoulder, ready to send arrows into the brains. She hadn't actually looked to see who was already up there and so was briefly shocked to see the very object of her thoughts in front of her.
"Oh." She blinked a couple of times, for the first time in her life unsure what to say to Clint Barton. "Uh, hi? How you doing?" Smooth, Kate, real smooth. In her mind she could practically see an array of Young Avengers facepalming at her.
