Oliver wasn’t one to hold onto something he knew was fleeting. There were still things about Earth-2 Laurel that he didn’t trust and a lot of it stemmed from Laurel’s connections with Diaz and how the two had worked together for a time, Diaz being responsible for hunting down his family when Oliver was in prison, Diaz who was able to do that because Laurel had screamed him off the roof of a building, effectively allowing him to escape. Oliver didn’t blame her anymore for that but it was still there, the feeling of betrayal lingering in the back of his mind.
The two soldiers didn’t seem them coming as Oliver watched Laurel knock them down with her cry. They were both quite dazed as they came to with Oliver shooting an arrow to knock away the other soldier’s gun, another arrow knocked and pointed at the fallen soldiers.
“Tell me where Renfro is,” he said, demanding an answer that he felt he wouldn’t get. Everything felt like a waste of time because the soldiers seemed to be trained to do that, to run them all in circles and speak about knowing things when in truth Oliver suspected that they knew absolutely nothing.
Before Oliver could shoot out another command he felt something, shaking under his feet which wasn’t quite like tremors. Oliver’s eyes narrowed as he heard something in the distance which sounded like trees falling…
“Laurel,” he said, her name slipping from him to grab her attention as he reached for her. He didn’t have time to tell her what he was doing as he shot his grappling arrow, aiming it at the tallest tree. It wasn’t to hold them because he had a feeling the tree would fall anyway but he had to at least propel them both high into the air, their bodies shooting upwards the moment the wave hit the ground.
