Stefan wanted to argue, but the truth was, he knew that Caroline would be okay. He knew she would be there for the girls. He knew that right now, they were probably more better off than Stefan and Damon were. And when Damon took off, Stefan followed behind until they reached the gas station. That looked empty. Which wasn’t surprising - it was mostly how the cities were. Empty and abandoned.
“Do you have signal?” Stefan asked, looking down at his phone and he knew that he didn’t. Nothing was pulling up. “Well,” he said, pushing his phone in his pocket. “The universe still has a way to making things happen, I guess. No matter the extremes it goes to.” He looked over at his brother and for awhile now, they had been focused on other things. They hadn’t really talked as much as they usually did and Stefan was curious about what was going on in his brother’s life, despite the fact that they both lived at the prison. It wasn’t as if Stefan could keep tabs on everyone and everything.
He basically did his job and helped out where he could and then he spent his time with Caroline.
“You know. If this was actually the universe and not some ‘government military mission -” Stefan said with a small eyeroll. He frowned though, something catching his attention from inside the store that was attached to the gas station.
