Who: Scott and Malia What: The talk When: A night or so after Malia arrived Where: The cafeteria Warnings: TBD
Scott’s eyes shot open suddenly as he gulped for breath. He reached his hand to his heart and it was pounding. He knew he had just had a dream and he was scrambling to remember everything but he knew that Liam was there. He was in trouble and even part of Scott ached a little. It was as if he could feel it. But he knew that Liam wasn’t here. He had left - or well, disappeared like people usually did and it was probably just Scott’s guilt from it. As if he could have stopped it. But if he could have, he would have.
Liam was gone and now Malia was here. Which was great. Not that Liam was gone, but that Malia was here. Things were complicated and he knew that Malia probably thought he was off. Which she asked him about when he brought her back to the prison. He was trying to find the words then but the words didn’t come and maybe that was giving him nightmares too. Whatever it was, it woke up both Allison and Isaac and he sat up a little.
“I’m fine, I just need to get some water,” he said and crawled out of bed. He looked back at them, knowing they were probably worried but he reassured them and then he threw on a t-shirt and put on his shoes before he headed to the cafeteria.
When Scott arrived here, it was right after Isaac left for France and Allison died. And in Everett, that’s where he got his memories of back home. Memories that he felt. Memories that helped him grow, even here and those included Malia. Meeting her and helping her and caring about her and fighting with her and eventually even loving her. And those feelings were there. Of course he loved Malia. But was it the same?
No, it wasn’t.
He walked into the cafeteria and stopped, tilting his head when he saw Malia at a table, eating. He almost smiled a little when she looked at him. He gave her a wave before he went to get his water and then walked over to her so he could sit across from her.
“So, I know that like, you think things are off. And …” He paused and took a breath. “It’s because they are.”
