Who: Jake and Tate Where: The Projects; Tate's apartment When: Bendy What: Jake threatens Tate Warnings: Language
When Jake found out about what happened to Faye he was beyond annoyed. He had heard about the whole haunting thing but his girlfriend was a big girl and knew how to take care of herself. Tate showing up and hurting her, threatening to kill her, well, that was a different story altogether and hurting Faye was an easy way to get Jake’s blood to boil. He wondered what the asshole was thinking messing with a witch. Someone who was powerful in his own right and having a piece of the crystal skull? Having access to more than one? Tate was going to get his ass handed to him, or at least Jake was going to make him pay in some way.
Because Tate used to live at the prison it wasn’t hard to get a tracking spell going. It was hard to actually pinpoint the guy but using the power of two crystals was more than enough to get the complex that Tate was staying in. What a shit show, really. Jake was pissed and was looking for some payback but he wasn’t the type to torture. Jake was more of the type to just go for the kill but he wanted to know what drove the dick to go all out.
When Jake found Tate’s apartment he didn’t even bother to knock. His solo magic was more than enough to unlock the door and open it, Jake walking in as if he owned the place and hell but most importantly he was here to own Tate’s shitty ass.
“Where are you, asshole?”
Jake didn’t see the little shit at first but if he wasn’t home then Jake was just going to wreck shit. Tate had nearly killed his girlfriend with his crazy ass antics so there was some payback to be had there. Didn’t this dick know that it was wrong to mess with Faye, let alone make an attempt on a woman’s life?
Tate was in a pissy mood and had been since that douche Alec had escorted him out of the prison. So what if he had gone overboard and had almost killed Faye, the little witch bitch deserved it and he had kind of wished that he had gotten to do more to her.
Thanks to her need to banish his fucking girlfriend now he was stuck out in the projects. He wasn’t entirely alone out there. He had his friends who lived out there, but Violet was stuck at the prison alone. Invisible to the rest of the people there because she didn’t trust them and none of them mattered.
It was all bullshit.
Now he needed to find someone who could untie her from the prison so he could have her with him here. It didn’t make much sense that she was tied to the prison like they had been tied to the murder house. Not when Tate could come and go as he wished. He was free. Unkillable. He could do whatever the fuck he wanted, why couldn’t she?
That was the twisted version of their fate.
When Jake barged into his apartment Tate had been invisible to the human eye. He still had all his nifty tricks here and he watched as Jake came in like he owned the place. The guy was just as much of a dick as Faye was a bitch.
“Hey asshole.”
Tate’s voice appeared behind Jake but Tate didn’t appear to Jake until he was close enough, “I think you’re lost.”
Jake heard Tate’s dickish voice and turned around to face him but didn’t see him at all. It was weird and he remembered Faye explain how Tate seemed to take everything thrown at him without so much as keeling over. It didn’t make sense until Jake theorized that Tate wasn’t normal. If Tate was capable of taking the brunt force of powerful magic then coming here was a huge waste of his time but Jake was prepared. He wasn’t here to dish out magic in the sense of hurting Tate.
No. Jake had far more interesting plans for Tate’s crazy ass.
“No, I’m at the right place.”
Jake took out the piece of the crystal that was borrowed from Faye from his pocket, his fingers clenching around it as he used its power that was added to his own. Jake knew what the crystals did when they combined and each one had a fraction of that amazing power. Too bad for Tate that Jake had two of them on his person.
“Ligabis illum,” he said, using the added power of the crystal to summon spectral chains that took hold of Tate the moment he appeared before Jake. The chains glowed purple, looking like they were banded together by rings of smoke but they held Tate fast, not letting him move a muscle.
“Got you.”
Tate didn’t care for witches unless they fucked with him and his own. They were useless most of the time. Look at Madison. But he was actively looking for a witch to break the tie and Jake wasn’t going to be that person. No, when Jake came into his place Tate fully intended to hurt the asshole because again, here they were, coming at them first.
Then something strange happened and Tate looked down at the smoke like shackles around his wrists. He had never been stuck before but it was clear what the hell it was when he couldn’t pop out of the room and he couldn’t go back to his invisible state.
Did Tate show fear? No. His eyes narrowed on Jake and he tilted his head, barely , that same sadistic smirk forming on his lips that had the night he had attacked Faye.
“So what? Come to get revenge for your slutty girlfriend?” Tate laughed. “The bitch had it coming and if you were me and she did what she did to you, you would have done the same thing.”
It was obvious that Tate had no idea what witches were capable of or at least a witch that knew what they were doing. Jake wasn’t a novice when it came to witchcraft and it showed by how confident he was with his spells. Jake was easily able to confine Tate to this space and it was a little confusing at how well it worked, too. It was almost like Tate tried to move but he was still held in place. Just what was here?
“Don’t tell me that you’re like Violet.” Jake didn’t understand how Tate got the jump on him with his invisibility trick. Nobody could do that unless they had magic and he knew that Tate didn’t. He was somehow indestructible and him being able to disappear...it was obvious that Tate was a special breed of dick.
“Faye isn’t someone to be messed with and neither am I. You two should have taken your games somewhere else because when you mess with a witch you’re lucky to make it out alive. Too bad for you that Violet is already dead but what about you, Tate?” Jake knew that he could tighten the hold of the chains but if it didn’t hurt the asshole then what was the point?
While Jake was pretty good with his magic tricks he was highly underestimating things when it came to Tate. The older witch came here expecting to hurt Tate for what he had done to Faye but really all that would do was piss Tate off more. Create a war between the two witches and the two ghosts and only two of them could die, so Tate just smirked as Jake talked.
“No, I’m not like Violet.” Violet was drawn to the darkness and had her own issues whereas Tate was the darkness. He fed of his inner demons and loved to play with them rather than pushing them deep down. Violet would fuck with Faye by breaking her shit and reading her diary, Tate would fuck with Faye by torturing her in ways where she wouldn’t be able to get Tate out of her mind.
“Too late for that.” He laughed as he shrugged his shoulders. “You can hurt me all you want super dick, but you can’t kill me and all your bullshit here is going to do is piss me off. Who do you think that I’m going to take that out on? Not your brother, he’s already gone. Not Diana or Melissa or Adam because you don’t give a shit enough about them for it to matter. But Faye? Now she’s a real peach. Someone you can’t live in this fucked up place without.”
“Hurt you?” Jake asked, his head shaking because Tate was dumb to think that he came here to lash out. Jake was more about the endgame when it came to solving problems. He already knew that Tate could bounce magic off of him without actually taking any of the negative effects of it. It meant that Tate was either super powerful or there was nothing about his body that could be harmed. Meaning that his body now wasn’t really a body. “You’re just a ghost too, aren’t you?” Jake had talked to Faye and Jake didn’t have to be a genius to know that with the way Tate could disappear and reappear. Tate was a spirit too but somehow he could manifest himself and give himself a corporal body. He wasn’t normal and Jake knew that he had to trap him with a spell the moment that he could. Lucky for him he already did that.
Tate was dangerous. Jake wasn’t going to stand there and think that Tate’s threats were empty because he already showed the entire prison that he didn’t care about anyone but Violet. Tate had been willing to kill Faye if it meant that he could save his ghostly girlfriend. Jake was careful and he knew that as long as Tate was chained down with his phantom chains he couldn’t blink out and he couldn’t harm Jake.
“Ghosts can’t be destroyed unless their bodies are. Their bones, basically. Since your remains aren’t here it means you get to stick around forever but you can still be locked down. I could trap you here forever. I can keep you away from Violet. She’s trapped at the prison, isn’t she? What will happen if I tied you here?” Jake wasn’t bluffing and he had a feeling that Tate would believe him. If Faye had nearly banished Violent what made Tate think that there wasn’t a spell that could tie down a spirit?
Jake wasn’t stupid like the other members of his Circle. He thought things through and like Tate he wanted closure when it came to the endgame of a situation. Tate just wasn’t scared. He wasn’t scared of anything and never had been until he had met Violet and then things changed. He was afraid of one thing and he would do whatever the hell it took to make sure that he didn’t lose her. “I guess. I don’t really know for sure what the hell I am.” a ghost, yes.
Tate narrowed his eyes on the tall blonde witch but his sadistic smirk never wavered. “Violet won’t be tied to the prison for long.” Tate had plans to get her out of that shithole of a place. The people inside were just walking wastes of space anyway, she deserved her freedom and to get the hell away from the people there.
“And tying me down here? Why start a war you won’t be able to finish?” Tate wouldn’t be trapped forever. He could be but was Jake really that lucky, he doubted it. “What I did to Faye was on Faye, you would have done the same thing to protect Faye had you been in my shoes. It’s why you’re here now. To defend your girl.Call me a monster or an asshole or whatever the hell you want but my only mistake was getting caught.”
“A war I can’t win? You’re already dead, Tate. So is Violet. While you guys have nothing left to lose I say that’s bullshit. You both seem to give a fuck about one another. It’s cute until it starts becoming a problem and you became my problem the moment you turned your attention on Faye. Yeah, you’re only protecting your girl. I get that. I’m only protecting mine.”
Jake couldn’t help but wonder what Tate was talking about. Violet wouldn’t be tied to the prison for long? Jake guessed that maybe Tate was getting help and if that was the case then it needed to be someone with magic. Someone who would be willing to help Tate out in his time of need by playing a sob story card, probably.
“I can trap you here but obviously right now I can’t. I don’t have everything I need but I can do it and I can make your ghostly life hell. Think about it. Violet stays tied to the prison and you stay tied here. You really think I can’t figure out a way to do both? To make sure you stay as far away from her? I don’t make threats. I’m not like Faye or any of the other witches. I’ve killed my own kind so I have no problem dealing with anyone who gets in my way. Including witches.”
And Jake would if it meant this stupid cycle continued. If Violet ended up being released then maybe all of this bullshit could stay behind them but if Tate touched Faye again, if Violet did, then there was no saving either of them.
Tate didn’t think that Jake was bluffing just like Jake knew that Tate was absolutely psychotic and would do whatever he had to in order to protect what was his. So where exactly did that leave them here? Tate was dead so he couldn’t be harmed so there was no sense in threatening him or even lashing out at him with bullshit magic, but Tate could still be harmed mentally and emotionally.
Especially since Tate lived a more human life than Violet cared to.
Taking away the one thing that Tate cared about would destroy him and if that ever happened, if Jake managed to keep them apart and somehow Tate actually got free. There would be hell to pay.
There should have been hell to pay for this little stunt Jake was pulling too, but the ghost did believe the witch.
“So what do you want?” Tate arched a brow questioningly at Jake. “For me to promise to stay the hell away from Faye? I don’t care about that bitch. Didn’t plan on going near her anymore anyway.”
“Yes. Stay away. Simple as that.” The spell that kept Tate trapped faded away, the chains disappearing in puffs of smoke, falling apart to release the ghost or whatever the hell he was. Jake didn’t care. He was willing to do whatever he had to do in order to show Tate he was serious and this talk was the only time that he was going to be civil. If there was a next time there wasn’t going to be a chat. Jake was just going to do what he had to do.
“Anyway, if we understand each other and you happen to get Violent free, then all the power to the two of you. Hopefully you guys can find whatever fucked up happiness you guys desire.” Jake wasn’t going to help and he wasn’t going to let any of the other circles members do anything. Jake was going to make sure Faye stayed as far away as possible from Tate and Violet.
Jake moved to leave, walking around Tate because he wasn’t going to be that kind to shoulder shoved someone. He wasn’t a bully enough but that didn’t make him any less dangerous. Jake stopped, turning around to give Tate one last glance before leaving.
