The prison had gone to hell, rampaged by so many things. Zombies and vampires coming out of the woodwork because of Kai. So many people had been attacked and it grated on Selene’s nerves that nothing could be done. As a death dealer, it was their job to take out the opposing force. Kai wasn’t a Lycan but that didn’t mean she didn’t want to treat him as one. Unfortunately, he could control the undead. Zombies and vampires alike. Something that just pissed off the Elder vampire more. She was happy that her nor David had ended up under Kai’s control. If they had, there’d be more casualties than what there were now. Then there was Octavia. A girl that she knew David enjoyed the company of. Maybe even a girl he could learn to love. Something that didn’t truly happen when it came to death dealers. Love was a commodity that they didn’t have time for. Yet, she’d had Michael and Eve. Eve who was nowhere near this place. As much as she missed her daughter, she was grateful. Grateful because the young woman she was growing up to be didn’t have to deal with all of this. Even though Michael was dead, she was glad that he wasn’t there as well. What would Kai do with a hybrid like him. Would he even be able to control him? A vampire lycan hybrid surely couldn’t be controlled by the likes of that bastard. Then again, there was part vampire in the genes of the hybrid, so it was very likely that he could. At least, that part anyway. David had asked her for the one thing that couldn’t, nor shouldn’t, be given out lightly. If others knew what her blood could do, then she’s sure there’d be experiments. Or perhaps, there are some who would try to kill her. Anything for her blood. Blood that would allow a vampire to walk in the day. She’d done the same to for the vampric prince. If she hadn’t then he’d of truly been dead. Something that, at the time, she couldn’t of allowed. Selene wouldn’t allow it even now. Not in this strange place with its magic and other vampires. Some that were possibly stronger than they were. The prison wasn’t on lockdown at the moment and that was fine with her. Not truly fine, but fine enough. It meant she could head out and find a high vantage point. Somewhere that she could over look the prison and the people within. A place where she could effortlessly drop down if needed. Fighting was something that she was good at and she’d do it. She’d shatter bone and put bullets through the skulls of zombies and vampires. It didn’t matter what they were. Attacking her home was not something that allowed. Instead of staying put she decides to head out instead. If something happened to the prison while she was gone, she’d deal with the consequences afterward. For now? Maybe it was best to try and find something to do. Find something out there in the world that would keep her mind on the things at hand. Like raiding. It was something that she was damn good at. Perhaps she’d even see if she could find something for Octavia and David. Heading out into the streets of Everett, she narrows her eyes slightly and jumps up standing on top of one of the buildings. She scans the streets and the stores before her. Stores that were deserted just as much as the land itself. Oh, they had specific things that could be taken and used back at the prison. However, she wasn’t looking for anything specific. Not like that. It didn’t matter that she’d still take it back to the prison. Maybe she’d find something that they’d needed. Running into zombies she puts a few bullets into their heads even though they were no longer controlled by the crazy ass idiot who had tried to turn everyone against each other. They were back to paying her and the other vampires no attention. Which was probably a good thing. She didn’t like being on anyone’s radar. Much less the radar of the undead that had only brains on the mind. Selene wondered what human had done this. Maybe she’d have to venture out a bit more outside of Everett. Get a better lay of the land. It seemed like forever that Derek and Chris had gone to Portland. They’d found places out there, hadn’t they? Perhaps she’d have to do the same. If only she could bring herself to leave David and Octavia alone. It’s not that she didn’t trust people at the prison, she did. However, David was family. His feelings for Octavia made her family as well. Not that she honestly knew that, not yet. Another zombie stumbles down the road and she holsters her guns before snapping its neck, tossing the head aside. “Stay down.” Not that it would react to her in any way, it was already dead. She’d taken it out and a few of its friends. Honestly? She was starting to get a bit restless. Something that hadn’t happened in centuries. The lycans here, however, were different. They still ran in packs, but they didn’t seem to be out after the humans. They stuck to themselves more than anything. Even to the point of trying to keep what they were a secret. Something that she could admire. Something that she did admire. Everyone around Everett seemed to have their own little thing going on. Whether it be the vampires, the lycans and the humans. Even the witches had their own thing. For now, she’d let her thoughts slide to something else a bit more productive. Making sure that her family was safe. That their lives would be spared in the long run. She’d have to find a day where she could talk to Octavia, see how the young woman was doing. Then see what kind of training David was teaching her. In the end, she’d stick by them until their true death. Assuming that she allowed that to happen. She hadn’t allowed it to happen to him. She wouldn’t allow it to happen to Octavia. |
