Caleb learned right away that Everett was a strange place to be in. No amount of magic from The Power could break open the portal that had apparently dropped him in this alternate world. Caleb did use his magic to take him back home but it was a desolate place and there was nothing for him there. No family or home. The whole world seemed to be a waste so the decision to live out his days at the prison was a tough pill to swallow but he did so in the end. It was hard to let go of his past and break himself away from the worry he had over Tyler and Reid but he believed that they would be alright with the threat of Chase gone.
In the meantime, in between watching out for Pogue and learning about the zombie filled world, Caleb had taken on the role of raider. He was assigned a teammate for today’s run and was loading up his jeep with the supplies they would need and weapons. Caleb didn’t need them but they were still useful to have in case his partner wasn’t magical. When it came to raids Caleb’s abilities were useful since his magic allowed him to accomplish multiple feats that were, by nature, impossible to do.
He didn’t know who his partner was but it was hard to miss her with the way her hair shined, the red shade brighter than anyone’s potential futures at this prison. It was like fire was spreading out over the woman’s shoulders and for a moment it was easy for him to get lost in it before he snapped himself out of it.
“You must be my partner for today,” he said, taking note of the way she was dressed, Caleb having chosen more tight clothing since he didn’t want to be caught wearing something loose. Loose meant that a zombie could grab him although he learned that there were other things besides walkers that lurked outside of the prison walls.
“Caleb,” he introduced, stretching out his arm so that he could shake her hand. Call Caleb old fashioned but he was and being a gentleman was just in his blood as his mother had taught him to be kind even to strangers.
