The sky above his head was darkening. Rain clouds, he thought. In the distance Oliver could see the flash of lightning, a storm brewing out near the projects that would probably head their way. Today Oliver was on duty but most days he was as he didn't want to overwork his sentry units. As much as they wanted to help he knew that they needed their rest so he kept the schedule tight but fair. People rotated more frequently and although it might have been forced it was necessary. Oliver Queen just wanted to protect the prison. He wanted to protect his people.
"What's that over there?"
Archie Andrews was Oliver's partner today. As leader Oliver had made it mandatory that all sentry units worked with other sentry units so that nobody was alone and that more of the prison could be watched and protected. Archie spotted something out near the edge of the woods where it met the fields of the prison. Oliver couldn't see that far until he grabbed the binoculars from the red head to see what he spotted. It was easy to make out the shape of a boy, a struggling figure as they were running towards the prison. The fields were high and blocked most of the boy's shape but as soon as they broke through Oliver noticed right away who it was.
"William?"
Oliver didn't know if it was possible to move as fast as he was moving now. He had left behind his bow and quiver in the midst of his panic, his eyes widening as he saw red on William's shirt - blood - his son was injured and Oliver feared the worst. He feared that his son had arrived and was attack by the zombies as he raced across the field, reaching the gated fence that William had also reached at the same time.
"It's okay, buddy. William it's going to be okay." Oliver was breathless as he moved to open the gate, his hands reaching for his son who embraced the green archer as soon as he got through. For a moment Oliver just held his son, half forgetting about the blood and the worry. He knew that he was crying the moment he pulled back but he didn't care. Oliver didn't care because after all this time he was seeing the only thing that mattered to him.
He never saw the knife coming.
The short blade sunk right into his heart. Oliver's expression was stuck on relief even as the kifee was twisted and William's expression started to fade away. Tears came, tears meant for his son who had never arrived to begin with. It was all just a spell as Kai Parker held Oliver's body up before pushing him back, Oliver dropping to the ground lifeless.
Oliver Queen was dead.
"Revelare, aperio." Kai waved his hand and the illusion spell that he had cast dropped to reveal hundreds of zombies as they marched their way towards the prison. Kai stood there, his face twisted in absolute excitement, the blade that spilled Oliver's blood still grasped into his hand as he used his necromancy abilities to force the zombies to once again be more a match for those guarding the prison.
He could hear the screams from ahead but it was too late. Kai started to move back, the zombies continuing to pour out of the woods as he disappeared within the hordes of undead and vampires that were dying to follow Kai's orders. The fighting ensued and it was going to be one giant bloodbath.
