Who: Bonnie and Damon What: Bonnie goes to check on Damon When: Bendy times Where: Salvatore Cabin Warnings: Nah
Bonnie had understood for a long time that Damon needed to figure things out. He was acting out because of Elena, by either turning or even killing hurting other people. Which, well, turning, hurting, it went hand in and and it angered Bonnie that he was acting out. Was being the operative word because Damon seemed to flee the prison, even going so far as Tacoma. There was no way that Bonnie could hide what she felt about Damon just up and leaving when she found him on the map when Caroline had come to her for a location spell on the brothers. He left without saying a word and now? He had come back without saying a word.
If ever there was a hint.
Still, she gave him space. Still, she pushed back whatever worries she had for the Salvatore that she had come to actually like, let alone care for since their time in the prison world. There was so much on her mind and she tried to make Damon not one of those thoughts, not the thing that kept her up at night sometimes, but there he was, creeping in. Somehow, even the demon could see it. It was embarrassing to say the least. For the demon to realize what Bonnie wanted even before she had fully realized it herself.
Regardless of what she wanted, or what she felt, or what she thought about, she left him alone. If he wanted to distance himself, then so be it. She did understand it, even if she didn’t want to understand. She wanted to say that this behavior was completely not like him, but that wasn’t the case. That’s what Damon did. He distanced himself and then he began to self destruct. It happened plenty of times over the years and now, it was happening in Everett.
And maybe Stefan was helping him. Maybe Stefan was listening to his complaints, but it had been weeks and Damon wasn’t being his annoying yet charming self over the network, harassing whatever newcomers had shown up in Everett. He was still upset. No, Elena didn’t remember him and yes, she had slept with Kol and it was … devastating to say the least. Bonnie didn’t disagree there. She also didn’t disagree with the fact that he could have been guilty for what he had done to Buffy or even to the girl, Dawn, that Caroline had told him about. But how long was he going to beat himself up over it?
Forever probably. If he had his way.
Bonnie knocked on the door to the cabin he shared with Stefan. It was early afternoon so it was anyone’s guess if Damon was sleeping or passed out, or not even here. She looked around skeptically. She didn’t trust anything or anyone these days but she hadn’t been followed and she didn’t sense anyone around. She realized that Kai could be anywhere, thanks to cloaking spells. Something just didn’t feel right, but she tried to ignore it as she knocked on the cabin door again hearing music blasting, so it was obvious, somebody was home.
