Saturdays and Laundry
Who: Jaime, OtA
What: Doing laundry!
When: early Saturday afternoon
Where: the laundry room in the building
Rating: Low, probably?
Status: Open, ongoing
Christmas, she realized, was a week and a half away. Which meant she had some last minute power shopping to do. This realization led to the idea she should get dressed and go out, which then led to the conclusion she had no clean clothes to wear out. In much the same way she was horrible about checking her mail, she tended to let her laundry hampers reach the point of overflowing before she engaged in Laundry Day. This weekend was no different. With a sigh, she gathered up the clothing that hadn't made it into the hampers -- the things draped over the towel rack in the bathroom or dropped casually onto the floor somewhere in the bedroom. Or the living room, in the case of socks. After packing her clothing down into the baskets, she snagged her keys, her wallet with her laundry card, grabbed her Kindle, and shoved her feet into her reindeer slippers before dragging the heavy hampers out of her apartment. She was aware she was probably a fairly comical sight -- she was clad in a pair of South Park boxers under a long, black My Darkest Days tee-shirt a size too large for her. It generally doubled as a nightshirt though, so it worked. When she reached the laundry room, she saw one of the washers was broken -- again (or maybe still, but she was betting again), but none of the others were in use. In the interest of courtesy, Jaime did leave one free in case some other person was being lame on a Saturday and doing laundry like she was. Once she had her clothes started, she flopped down into one of the plastic chairs, propped her fee up on another one, and opened up her Kindle. She never liked to leave her clothes alone, because who knew what sort of mischief people got up to in places like this? Besides, if she went back upstairs, she'd probably forget she had clothes washing until her thoughts cycled back around to shopping. Speaking of ... after hooking up to the wi-fi in the building, Jaime started browsing online for gifts she could pick up locally (or that would ship quickly without excessive charges) so she could at least get a head start that way. |
