Who: Kerr & Jean
When: November Evening (After set up is done)
Where: Animal pens
The teleportation spell was always a little strange. She had no idea how it worked or why, and honestly didn't care. Everyone piled into cars and wagons for it to happen after pulling loose things inside tents. All the animals were loaded into trailers or their cages. A few of the smaller free standing stalls were torn down and stored. They were always told that it helped make sure nothing was left behind. All the stakes were pulled up and the showers taken down. The cookhouse and tables were loaded onto trucks. And more. Then, as everyone waited, things always got really bright, then there was a strange tingling sensation and then nothing. It was like nothing had happened- except they were in a new place.
Set up was basically the reverse of take down. The cookhouse and showers were rebuilt. Tents were stakes back in, signs put up, stalls rebuilt, chairs, games, etc all put back out. Hay was put down for the animals who were allowed to roam in the fenced area and they were let out. Kerr always found herself running around helping out across the carnival wherever Louis sent her, but she always ended up back with the animals.
As the night fell in the desert the tiger started to get a little anxious. It was about feeding time anyhow, so she grabbed the coyote that one of the carnies had killed that evening when it came sniffing around (She was a little sad it had died, but at least it's death wasn't in vain as the tiger always liked fresh kill). As she approached the cage, she held a hand out to it, palm up. It's large nose pressed against her hand and chuffed at her. "Hey." She said softly. Her voice had always been one that one wouldn't deem 'girly', granted she didn't have a deep baritone male voice, but she passed off as a higher pitched guy pretty well. "Got a surprise for you today." Kerr moved around to the door and opened it slowly. She was always cautious, but never seemed to have an issue with the animals trying to run or attack her. And in those instances they were 'in a mood', she always seemed to know and avoided the situations that could get her- or the carnival in trouble.
Kerr hefted in the coyote and the tiger happily pounced on it. "Yea, thought you'd like that." She chuckled, closing the cage. "Glad you're happy." As she wiped her hands off on the rag she kept in her back pocket she stifled a yawn as she headed toward the petting zoo. She grabbed her pack and bedroll from behind the chicken coop- on the outside of the fence of course and before she could find a spot to crash, she saw someone near the animals. "Careful." She chuckled. "The goats tend to get a little nippy when we travel. They'll start chewing your shirt off your back if you get too close."
