The amused laugh, the offered drink, even the way he couldn’t stop looking at her told her that she had him right where she wanted. “Don’t mind if I do.” She replied, taking the flask from his hand to take a hard swig of it. Whiskey she didn’t mind, her daddy used to make moonshine and she’d had far worse than whiskey. As she handed it back to him she offered a coy grin. “Thank you kindly. Not many men folk are as generous as you when something comes between them and their whiskey. I appreciate the gesture.”
Now she circled him, getting a good look at him, see if he was the type she could swindle. Turns out she didn’t much like the idea of stealing the folks she intended to work with. As she came to face him again her grin widened. “Say there ain’t anything around here besides drinking with roustabouts and sleeping in the cold, is there?” If there was something else to pass the time she’d take it, so long as she didn’t have to do anything she didn’t want. She didn’t mind playing this game with men but when it came down to it, she couldn’t go through with it. She just wasn’t wired that way.
