Who: Edward and Eva with guest appearance of Lily What: Plotting Revenge When: 30th September Where: Edward and Eva’s Wagon Rating: Medium Status: Complete
As much as Edward wanted to rip the head off that vile creature Marty after what he had said to Eva, he knew that he couldn't, they couldn't risk the new life that they had set up in Zion, while it wasn't how he had pictured their future in America, they did have safety and allies that they wouldn't have if they had remaining in the outside world. And the money that Eva earned was enough for some nice things on occasion.
But that didn't mean Marty would get away with it, vampires were more cunning than most people have them credit for, so while tucked away in their wagon for the daylight hours they talked and plotted.
“Estar tranquilo.” She whispered, crawling on the bed behind him. “Stay calm, mi amor.” Eva could see Edward fuming after she’d told him of her exchange with Marty. Her hands ran over his shoulders as she leaned on him and wrapped her arms around him in an embrace. “Doing something now won’t learn him any lessons. And a quick punishment would not feel rewarding.” She fiddled with the button of his shirt as her dark hair fell over her shoulder. Her simple shift style dress, a new style she was loving as it was growing in fashion, was pulled up to allow her to kneel without pulling on the fabric. “You’re not seeing the bigger picture.” She rested her head against his.
There was once a time where Edward wouldn't have shown any restraint, especially when it came to disrespectful men and his beloved Eva, it was still a relatively new thing to him. But once again Eva was right, she was always right. When her fingers fiddled with a button he sighed and leaned back a bit, her touch was always comforting and calming. "I know my love, a creature like that deserves slow and painful torture." His eyes slid shut and a hand moved to rest on one of hers. "It just frustrates me so much, can Kristoph not see the kind of vileness he's let into Zion?"
“I’m sure that the same could be said of us. I understand why he is allowed here. And yes, it is frustrating, but we might have an opportunity.” She smiled and kissed his neck before sliding back and moving off the bed. “I had a long time stuck to think.” Eva moved over to the small icebox they had in their wagon (with literal ice to keep it cool) and pulled out a decanter containing some blood reserves. She poured them each a glass. “It will require us to not get along, and it has to happen slow so he does not get suspicious.” Eva offered him the drink.
Except he and Eva didn't to stir up trouble with anyone and pretty much everyone, they just kept to themselves. He watched as she got off the bed, she was so beautiful and moved so gracefully, he wasn't worthy of her affection. Listening as she spoke about the plan to make it appear as if they weren't getting along an eyebrow raised. "Only out in public, correct? I don't think I could be mad at you all the time."
“Of course.” She said, brushing a hand over his cheek. “And probably no loud adult fun times the farther we get into it.” While fun, it would cause an issue if someone overheard. “I am thinking your pet could be the… el catalizador… the catalyst.” Eva took a sip of her blood, she’d gotten used to cold blood over time. They couldn’t keep it warm because it would clot and become undrinkable when they wanted a snack but couldn’t go out. Sometimes when the cookhouse had vampire meal time, they’d heat it up in a pot for them. “Do you think you can do that?” She asked, sitting next to him. “Spend more and more time with her? But not too fast… maybe an extra day or two a week?” Her mind started to think of different things they could do to show the tension between them. “And if he thinks you had finally chosen someone else over me… that I’ve ‘seen you for what you are’. He can be my hero.”
"Save it for when everyone's busy with the daylight shows." Edward smirked before sipping on the glass of blood, of course it wasn't as nice as fresh but it was better than nothing at all. He chuckled when Eva mentioned using his pet as the catalyst. "Oh she's going to love the attention." They had talked about when Edward had taken Kerr out to dinner and had begged for him not get sick of her, that she would have lessons on pretty much everything to keep his attention. "I think I can do that, stay into the early hours of the morning and come back before dawn."
“Who wouldn’t love your attention.” Eva grinned, showing off those pointed teeth. As a Nightwalker, Edward had taught her how to keep her fangs hidden. It was all about training your mouth and how you spoke, smiled, everything. It had taken some getting used to (with many slip ups in the first year), but she had it down now only exposing them in certain company. “And I have pets who I can whisper to… tell them of how ignored I feel… let word spread a bit.” Her fingers ran over the rim of her glass. “You know it should end in a real fight…”
Eva was right in that regard, who wouldn't enjoy his company? Other than their prey that was. He had more experience hiding his own fangs and the only other person who saw them other than Eva was Kerr, and Kerr didn't seem to mind, especially if she knew he was going to feed from her, he could always hear the way her heartbeat got faster. He nodded as he sipped again from his glass, which turned into a grin at the idea of having a fight at the 'end'. "What kind of fight are you thinking about? Yelling at each other, or something more physical?"
“Physical would be more dramatic… but do you think it would be too much?” Eva wondered, finishing what was in her glass. “He does think you a monster. Perhaps it could work.” She ran a finger down his arm. “You said when you confronted him, you strangled him… yes?”
As much as Edward dreaded the idea of hurting Eva - even for show - getting into a physical fight would make it more believable. “Maybe you could slap me when I go to grab your arm…” he thought, “I do loathe the idea of laying a hand on you, even in pretend anger.” He finished his glass as well and reached up to take Eva’s hand in his. “You are my world Eva, know that I would never really do anything like that to you in anger.”
Eva couldn’t help but laugh. “Always the gentleman, mi amor. But I can take it… if it’s needed.” She set the glass aside and turned to him, pulling a leg onto the bed so she could kiss his cheek and whisper in his ear. “You are my maker, my savior, mi amor forever. You could never really hurt me.”
It would be all an act, although they had to make it as realistic as possible. “It is a pity that we do not bruise…” Edward contemplated, because bruises on Eva’s body would make it appear as if they got into arguments while alone. “We may also have to find an empty wagon that we can blacken the windows of, make it seem as if we really are fighting.” He smiled as Eva whispered in his ear. “I know, my love.” Turning his head Edward kissed her on the cheek and smiled.
“Should we tell Lily?” She wondered, not wanting the other vampire to be concerned about them.
“I think we should.” Edward replied, he knew that the Daywalker would keep the secret, maybe even help play along with the ruse. “We don’t want her to worry about us.” And no doubt Lily would, even though they hadn’t seen much of her lately he and Eva still felt as though the other vampire was the closest thing they had to family in this carnival.
“Or try to fix things in earnest.” She added with a smile. “Shall we fetch her now?” They were plotting after all, maybe Lily would have something to add.
With their telephones working again, Edward sent Lily a message, asking if she wasn't busy could she come over to their wagon. As he waited for a reply he kissed Eva's hand. "I do hope that she will join us."
Lily was still working towards getting used to the little message machine as she was halfway under a truck and got Edward’s message. Typing back “Yes. I will be there soon”, the daywalker slipped out from under the truck. She draped her towel over the front of the truck and made her way to Edward and Eva’s wagon.
Knocking first, she slipped inside. “Hello.” Lily spoke softly.
Edward smiled as Lily entered the wagon, they had seen each other in passing but it had been a while since they had talked. "Lily, our beautiful French belle, you are looking well. Come sit, we've got something we'd like to discuss with you."
“Mi flor.” Eva smiled, holding out a hand for Lily to join her as she greeted her with a kiss on the cheek. “I am sorry that we are calling you here for business and not pleasure, but we realized that we could not do what we have planned without telling you- and only you.” Lily was the only person who Eva would even dream of bringing into their little conspiracy. She brushed a finger over the other vampires forehead, moving a strand of hair out of the way lovingly. “What do you know of the Talker from the future… Marty?”
Smiling back at both of them, Lily stepped over to Eva and took her hand. Then sitting down, she listened. “It is all right. Oh? The Talker - the one that seems to have daggers for anyone and everyone?” She asked, having that feeling when she passed by Marty.
Edward moved to sit behind Eva, back towards the middle of the large bed that took up a good portion of their wagon. He'd let Eva tell Lily all about the plan and only say something if he thought that it was needed, he was good at making men part with their coin, but this was a more delicate matter.
“That would be him.” She nodded. “See, he harmed Edward’s pet. And then insulted him, and if that weren’t enough, he insulted me.” Eva shook her head. “We simply cannot let it stand.” She relayed the story of what happened, how Marty had shown interest in Kerr then dropped her because of his own inadequacies, how his interaction with Edward after had gone and then of course, the interaction she had that had spawned this whole devilish plot.
Eva turned, having risen to tell the story, gesturing to Lily. “We have to do something. And we’ve decided that just killing him would be too easy. We have to break him, and thankfully he gave us the perfect opening to do so.” She continued, relaying the idea to show tension between her and Edward over the next few weeks. Using his relationship with Kerr as a catalyst. Making it seem as if she is losing Edward as Marty said would happen- but in the end it was important that it was her choice to leave him. “At which point, with proper planning, Marty will be there waiting with open arms… and eager veins. And then… he’ll be all mine.” Her smile was wicked. “Of course, we don’t want you to fret that we’re actually fighting.” Eva slid back onto the bed next to her, laying her hand on hers. “But, having our closest friend concerned about us- without trying too hard to reconcile us, will help to sell it.”
“Oh?” Lily blinked, listening and frowning at such things. Why couldn’t there not be someone that caused trouble.
The daywalker nodded, knowing that Edward and Eva often had great plans. She trusted them. They were family. “And that would make sense for me - I dare not intrude in your relationship.”
“I would hope that in the normal circumstance, you’d be there to try to mediate for us if we actually were in a tiff.” Which Eva couldn’t think of a time they’d ever really fought. Sure, they didn’t always disagree on things- such as when Edward decided to preserve meals more than end them. But outright fighting or arguments… not to her knowledge. Or maybe that was because she chose not to remember any of those times. “But in this case.” She kissed Lily’s cheek. “The more public, the better. And once I’ve gained Marty’s trust… and he lets me feed from him… I can train him to suit our needs.” And since he’ll be giving of his blood willingly, she technically won’t be breaking her promise and conditions of being in Zion.
“I would,” Lily nodded. But she had not seen Edward and Eva quarrel. Sighing softly at Eva’s kiss, Lily smiled. “The more public the argument?” she asked to clarify. “And...you two may have him as you wish.”
“We were thinking maybe one night after a show, when Eva’s finished with her… clients, I walk up to her and say something that she doesn’t like, maybe even get her to slap me before walking off in disgust..” Edward said, breaking the conversation between the two ladies for a moment, although he didn’t know what he would say, maybe he should whisper it into Eva’s ear instead. “We just have to make sure that he is within sight of what happens.” Draw him in somehow, or make it look genuine without it appearing to be an act.
“But in truth, we wanted to tell you so you did not think things were actually wrong between us- even if you have to pretend they are. We did not want to hurt you by not telling you about it. Make you think we did not trust you.” She squeezed Lily’s hand. Beyond Edward, Lily was the only other person whose feelings Eva would ever consider outside her own- unless it would benefit her.
Lily’s eyes went from Eva to Edward and back to Eva as she listened. They had thought about it and they worked so well together being sire and sired. “It is okay,” she nodded and squeezed Eva’s hand in return. “This will be a careful and tricky dance.”
"It's a good thing that we're both pretty good actors." Edward smiled at the two beautiful brunettes. "We just have to remember the tales we tell others, that is the hardest part of living a lie, remembering what to tell others." He moved forward a bit, taking the joined hands in his and pressing a kiss to the tops of them. "We do not want to keep you all day, I'm sure that we interrupted your work." Which Edward did feel bad about, but that wanted to make sure Lily was in on their little plan.
“Maybe pass a note to me or the like,” Lily shrugged a little but then smiled at Edward’s kiss to her hand. “It’s all right. I usually take a break to take a walk. Thank you for telling me.”
Eva smiled and nodded in agreement with Edward. “Remember, you can come to us at any time too, even if it appears that we’re squabbling to the outside, we will always be here for you still.” She reassured the girl.
“We are family after all.” Edward said, although they were different types of vampires, they were still vampires and all the things they had gone through together made them family in his mind, he knew he could trust both of them more than anyone else in the world. Getting up on his knees a bit he kissed the tops of Lily’s head and then Eva’s
Lily smiled brightly at Edward’s words. “Yes, we are family,” She spoke and sighed. Then the daywalker turned her head and pressed a kiss to Eva’s cheek before moving to press a kiss to Edward’s cheek.
