WHO: Willis and Bella WHEN: Thursday before the trip home WHERE: Hotel in town WHAT: After a ‘date’ WARNINGS: Medium STATUS: Complete
______________
He’d told her that she deserved one last grand night out before they venture away from the modern era. Thanks to accounts he had established in 1920, and a bit of smooth talking to get the accounts change into his ‘great great grandsons’ name, he had plenty of money in 2020. He’d been generous helping the carnival with phones, allowances until their first carnival. He even bought a generator, considering their electrician had gone missing. So, taking Bella out to a high end restaurant in the French Quarter of New Orleans was quite easy.
They dined on a fine meal and had a sinful dessert. He’d even managed to ignore all the whispers of sinners around him- which were plenty among the wealthy. Bella was an even greater temptation, and a long trial meant to be a great test by god and her convictions.
Once dinner was over, they took a taxi to a fancy hotel and checked in. When Bella seemed confused about the local he informed her that for their last night in town, he wanted her to have a night in the softest bed, the most comfortable sheets and pillows. He assured her they’d make it back in time to help prepare for the trip. Checking in, he could feel the whispers telling him that the manager watching over his staff had been harassing his employees- no, just the girl who handed him his keys. He desired her. But he didn’t act. Instead, Will just took the keys and Bella’s arm and lead her to the elevator which they took to their room.
“I hear there’s quite a view.” He said, taking her jacket before removing his own. He’d dressed in a nice button up shirt. While his chest only contained clothes in one color- which made it easier on Sundays- she was the only one who’d known that night that he was a Reverend. Once the jackets were hung, he stepped into the room. Inside there was a King bed, couch, small desk and everything else you’d see in a hotel room. While some may just see it as a ‘normal’ room, it was quite luxurious compared to many of the places that were available on their budgets in 1920. “The lady at the desk mentioned room service… I can order us drinks if you’d like.”
For the first time in her life, Bella willingly put on a dress. When Will told her he was going to take her out she panicked. She didn’t have enough money to buy a fancy dress for herself but thank god one of the kids moms took pity on her and loaned her a dress. Accenting it with a simple shawl she felt oddly nervous. Bella hadn’t truly been a date since she was a teenager and that didn’t end well for her. Since then it had just been trysts whenever she had an itch to scratch. This was something else entirely.
As expected Bella enjoyed the evening they had out, the truth was that no one had ever taken her out on the town like this. Every time they moved she let others get supplies for her so that she could stay behind. There was a comfort at Zion and a safety she felt she didn’t think she could feel anywhere else. And then there was Willis, and out and about with him she felt safe.
While she was surprised that he’d decided to get a hotel room for them, she did appreciate him for it. She couldn’t remember a time she’d ever slept in a bed so nice. When they entered the room she opened up the drapes to look out into the local scenery. She was astonished, so many lights and so much activity. At the question she turned around to regard him with a large smile.
She walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. “I would love some wine.” Her fingers tickled the hair on the nape of his neck.
“Right away.” He said, placing a gentle kiss on her lips before moving to the book that held the room service menu. It took a moment to figure out the instructions and how to use the phone- though it was simple and the direction appeared to have been written for a simpleton it did help when one had never operated a contraption before. He ordered a bottle of wine and some chocolate covered strawberries, making sure to keep his voice low to surprise Bella. Willis wasn’t actually interested in dating, held no actual feelings of love or affection for Bella. He never held any strong feelings about anyone actually. But, he was good at fitting a role, and even though he’d never really played the role of doting lover/boyfriend before, he was a quick study.
After hanging up the phone, Will stepped back over to Bella, “About twenty minutes.” He said, reaching up to brush some hair from her face. “Have I told you how stunning you look this evening?”
A light blush came to her cheeks and she chuckled at him, grabbing his hand in hers and looking down at the ground before she flicked her eyes back up to his. “Only about a dozen times.” She remarked and chuckled at it. She pulled him closer so that they were inches away from each other. “But I like it when you say it so by all means keep going.” She pressed a kiss to his lips before she slipped out of his arms and walked back over to the window.
She wasn’t a stranger to playing hard to get, it was part of the foreplay that she loved before a good romp. “I guess you look pretty good too, I think civilian clothes suit you.” She turned her head to offer him a wink.
As she took in the city skyline she took a deep breath. Things really were falling into place for her right now and she felt truly happy for the first time in a long time.
His fingers brushed over his collar, civilian clothes? The only thing different about his dress was the white clipped into his collar. He supposed it must really change the look of him. “Thank you.” He nodded. The modern world was so loud to him. Anger and rage echoed into his mind down the hall, lust and pride the other direction, across from them gluttony and sloth. Deceit, sorrow, greed, betrayal, all those emotions and feelings that begged him to push, test God’s children. But, he quieted his mind and focused on Bella. Approaching her, he looked out the window. He’d kept the lights in the room dim to help hide the shadow that seemed to follow him everywhere. It hadn’t been as prominent in 1920, Willis had always considered it a sign of how much sin surrounded him. With what he’d experienced since their arrival in 2020, his theory seemed to hold up. Technology disconnecting people from each other and from God, debauchery, greed and ego surrounding all those young people in the streets taking pictures of themselves and preoccupied with their looks and social standings. It would be so easy to test them.
Again, those were thoughts that would have to wait until he got to the new millenium naturally. In the meantime he placed a hand gently on Bella’s shoulder as he stood at her back, looking out the window as well- well looking at her reflection. “Reminds me a bit a’ New York- not exactly but best comparison I can think of. New York round Christmas… without the snow. When lights go up.”
When a knock came to the door she jumped and chuckled at herself a bit before shaking her head. “Must be that wine we ordered.” She said quietly before taking his hand off of her and running to the door to grab the wine. She opened the door and was surprised to see not only a bottle of wine and two glasses but also some chocolate covered strawberries. As the hotel attendant wheeled the food into their room she smirked and looked over at Willis.
“You know, you don’t have to wine and dine me so much, I’m already yours.” She said with a small giggle. But instead of refusing she took a strawberry off the plate and began to eat and suck at it seductively. The hotel attendant awkwardly left the room and she chuckled at him.
She opened the bottle of wine and poured them both a glass. “Let’s make a toast.”
“We ain’t gonna have these nice things for much longer.” He said, taking a glass from her. “I want you t’enjoy it while you can.” Willis said matter of factly. “So, what should we toast to?”
“To love.” She replied and clinked her glass with his. She took a long gulp of her wine which emptied the glass completely. She offered him a smirk after he took a sip of his and grabbed his glass from him to put them both down. “Enough of that.” She said. It had been the first time they were alone and Bella was dying to see what he looked like with his clothes off.
She wrapped her arms around his neck again and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. One small part of her felt like this was wrong, like she wasn’t meant to have this with him but she pushed those feelings away and savored the feeling of his lips against hers.
Willis had taken a drink of his wine before she took it away. A small chuckle followed before their lips met. His hand moved to the side of her face, fingers lacing into her hair. He was almost surprised, he didn’t need to do much of anything to get her to pursue those sinful thoughts. Though, knowing her, she likely wasn’t thinking of them as such.
His other arm curled around her waist, his hand placed at her lower back to hold her close to him. Will had to admit, physical encounters were pleasurable. And those occasions he had partaken of them, had been in helping to facilitate gods tests. Still, he would have to seek forgiveness for his own sins Saturday night. “Bella.” He whispered, their lips parted, but he didn’t move away from her.
Why would Bella ever stop herself from pursuing it. She’d spent the better part of her adulthood fantasizing about him and she wasn’t about to miss out on the opportunity to finally have it. As their lips parted she smirked at him. “Yes, darling?” She replied just because she liked the way it rolled off her tongue.
But she didn’t bother letting him respond, her hands slid down his neck to the buttons on his shirt, deftly plucking the buttons open one by one. It didn’t matter much what he said, Bella had been pure in wait for far too long and her body craved his.
His hands moved and placed over hers briefly halting their process. “Doll… are you sure?” Willis didn’t wait for a reply before releasing her hands, he could tell in her eyes, and those desires he could sense in the room. They begged him to use his power on her, but he refrained. While he would allow himself to test her, he stopped short of giving her that push into it like he did with others. It seemed that she didnt’ actually need it anyhow, just needed the door to be opened.
As his shirt pulled away from his shoulders and his undershirt was removed, that small tuff of hair on his chest became visible. His body was in good shape, it felt impossible for him to gain weight or lose definition- that body he’d had before sort of locked in place. Various old scars littered his torso, all remnants from a life he couldn’t remember. The most prominent marking being the discoloration on his right forearm. Like vines splitting off from a single point just below the elbow, they spidered up and down his arm in a dark brown coloration as they followed the path of his veins.
Her eyes moved along the scars, taking in each one with focus. She had never even seen him with his shirt off so she was surprised to see what lay underneath. It was a statement on how much she truly knew about him. What sort of secrets were held behind those eyes she found herself lost in all the damn time? Most obvious was the discoloration along his arm. Her fingers came to touch it in fascination.
She had so many questions but she didn’t utter a single one of them, just brushed her fingers along it lightly. Finally she looked into his eyes and let go of his arms. She reached behind her to unzip her dress, pulling the dress off her body in one fell swoop. Besides a pair of underwear Bella was left naked. “More sure than I’ve ever been about anything.” She replied, stepping back into his space so that they were close again.
She was beautiful, he had to admit it and the touch of her fingers drew goosebumps along his skin. The remainder of their clothes fell to the floor and he laid her gently on the bed. The sexual revolution hadn’t happened yet in their time. Things of such nature weren’t taught in schools or spoken about in polite company normally. A few degenerates might do things that weren’t proper or traditional, but the Reverend wasn’t one of those. Oh, there was a little exploration of each other's bodies. Lips exploring places above the waist, but it was really all about the act of making love.
Willis wasn’t going to win any awards for creativity, but he did do his best to check in with her, ensure she wasn’t in pain and enjoying herself as well. As his body weighed over her, an arm supporting himself as his hips moved, he found himself taken by her beauty and body. The moment had grabbed him and he did feel connected to her, even if the moment was brief.
Upon finishing, the Reverend released himself from her charms and rolled to the bed beside her. A bit of sweat beaded at his brow as he felt satisfied. An arm moved to rest behind his head as the other wrapped around her to draw her in next to him.
As it was over something felt off. For a moment there she saw something more genuine and real in Willis than she ever had before. However, just as quickly as it came it was gone again. The thought lingered in her mind and she was left unsatisfied. She supposed in any new relationship there would be kinks to iron out so she pushed those feelings down as far as she could and curled up into his arms.
“You have no idea how long I wanted to do that.” She offered with a chuckle, nuzzling her head into the spot where his neck and his shoulder met. “Well I suppose you do since I tried to wrangle you in when I was sixteen.” She teased.
Oblivious to her lack of satisfaction- she had appeared to enjoy herself after all, Willis kissed the top of her head and ran his fingers through her hair. “You had almost made me regret making you wait so long.” Granted, she was still just a child when they’d met and he was unaging. “But timing is everything.” And having the auxiliary security system gone from Zion had opened up his freedoms a bit more. That pesky gnat no longer buzzing in his ear, threatening to shock him should he choose to cause trouble. Most of his tests didn’t risk the death of someone, so the normal security spell- however it worked- couldn’t catch him. But she could. And she’d been missing. So… timing.
She offered him a smirk and pressed a quick kiss to her lips before untangling herself from him. “Gotta clean up.” She said to him as she made her way to the hotel bathroom. When the door was closed behind her, she sighed. She hadn’t done this much but she knew she could and she sat down to bring herself to completion. While the images used to be filled with Willis, this time her thoughts went elsewhere. Mostly to the fun her and Paul used to have. He sure knew how to fuck.
When she was done she climbed into the shower and washed herself completely before coming out of the bathroom in a bathrobe and with wet hair. “When do we gotta leave here tomorrow?” She asked him, drying her hair with a towel.
While she did what she had to, he cleaned himself off and slipped into his drawers. Without her in the room, those whispers… He placed his hand on the wall of the hotel room. He could sense anger on the other side of the wall. It was so tempting to just slip next door and whisper a few words. Knock on the door and sneak in when they weren’t looking. As the thought crossed his mind, he became invisible to the world around him. They wouldn’t be around the modern sin for much longer. Wouldn’t he just be doing God’s will by ignoring his word? The shadows around him almost seemed to quiver with anticipation.
As Bella’s voice chimed into the room, he turned around- visible again- and smiled at her. “Earlier than I’d like, if I’m bein’ honest.” Willis replied. “They’re gonna be startin’ the teardown early- complete teardown I hear. But we dun gotta be there right when they start. ‘Fore lunch, give us a chance t’get some breakfast here an’ wake up without a rush.”
She smiled and walked over to him to wrap her arms around his shoulders. “You are by far the most thoughtful man I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.” Well about most things anyway, she had time to teach him how to be a better lover. They’d have the rest of their lives if all went well. She wondered when she’d start to see the crows f I eet or the gray hairs, it seemed like most other men had already gotten to that point but not Will.
“And don’t remind me how much work I got going for me tomorrow. Do you have any idea how rowdy those kids get when we do a regular tear down? I’m going to have to sedate them.” She teased and pressed a kiss to his lips. The clock in the room said it was late and Bella wished she could’ve made this night go on forever but there were other responsibilities they both had and she wasn’t about to bite the hand that fed her.
As they retired back to bed, Bella curled into his strong arms and closed her eyes as his fingers gently brushed her hair. The day would be long and arduous, but in that moment there was peace. And a bed that was sinfully comfortable, too.
