Getting the paperwork organized wasn’t really all that difficult, they had some false birth certificates that had changed their dates of birth forward one hundred years and all the other identity papers that would stand up to any scrutiny by officials. They had their marriage license but hadn’t actually set an official date when lodging them, Ben and Fitz hadn’t actually set one, just knowing that they’d get it done before they went back to 1920, if they ever got back there.
It was a pleasant Sunday afternoon, there were some clouds but not too many and a nice breeze was blowing in off the ocean. Ben had left earlier, telling Fitz that he had some errands to run but really he had just gone to one of the random tents that were set up on the grounds of Zion. He had asked if the good Reverend would officiate the ceremony, Jericho was asked to be his best man and witness as well as asking Beth if they could be a witness as well, knowing that Fitz and her were friends but was reminded to keep it all hush hush she was flattered and dressed up in her best outfit. The interior of the tent looked absolutely amazing thanks to the wonderful skills of the Professor, yes it was all an illusion but it was a beautiful illusion.
Dressed up in a black suit with a black shirt and burgundy tie he looked around as just about everyone was there, then he sent Fitz a message on his fancy telephone thing, asking his boyfriend to get dressed up in that lovely new suit and meet him at the back of Zion, saying that they were out for an early romantic dinner and Ben wanted them to be dressed up. Another message told Fitz to meet Ben inside of this particular tent, that he had just had to finish a task for another member of Zion, but really it was just a trick to get Fitz to step inside.
Everyone was inside and waiting by the time that Fitz finally poked his head into the tent, while it wasn’t overly obvious - there was no long aisle or vast crowd - it would still be clear that something was happening. Ben smiled and waved from the other side of the tent here he was standing near Reverend Conrad and Jericho, Lizzy in front of her father. Beth walked up to Fitz and took his arm, all but pulled him down the makeshift aisle to where everyone else was waiting. It was unclear who was more nervous at that moment but they were safe with this group of people, everyone present knew the truth of their relationship.
The ceremony itself wasn’t overly long (compared to some weddings that just seemed to go on and on), it was mostly traditional but not overly religious, Reverend Conrad his part, vows and rings were exchanged amongst the almost constant threat of tears until those classic, if not altered words were said “You may kiss the groom”. The two men kissed, be it quickly (there was a child present after all) and embraced each other, the tears finally falling.
