After she left the room James looked down and sighed. He knew she was worried. The areas around Everett were fraught with danger. Tugging his jacket on but leaving it open, he silently opened the door and moved down the steps, his footing nearly as light and soft as his mother's.
He watched her for a few moments, wondering what the hurt and pain was that haunted her. He never pried or asked about it, but he knew it weighed heavily on her heart. Crossing the distance of the room he hugged her.
