Elena couldn't agree with Stefan more. They needed to track Damon down and find out what happened to him. If someone had taken him, that someone would need to be dealt with. If Damon had woken up, scared and alone they needed to find him fast. Because nobody wanted Damon to be alone. They could deal with the drama of Elena's choices and love life later. Right now they needed to make sure Damon was okay and reunite the Salvatore brothers.
She nodded at Stefan and the two of them tore through the lighthouse looking for evidence of whoever had been here. There was nothing and finally Elena met Stefan outside below, down by the base of the lighthouse and shook her head at him. But then she raised her eyes to the beach and lightened, something was there. She rushed past Stefan and down the beach where she found a covered fire. Like somebody had been cooking down here.
Putting her hands on her hips she studied the fire for a minute and the two sets of footprints leading away from it into the woods. “Could this possibly be a coincidence?” she asked him. If it was a coincidence, it was a pretty incredible one. It was conceivable that one of the footprints belonged to Damon. They looked like they could be the right size. The other footprints looked smaller, almost Elena sized, feminine.
Oh God, Rebekah.
Just the thought of the blonde vampire froze Elena's blood in her veins and made her heart skip an extra beat. She couldn't bear the thought of Damon getting grabbed and used by Rebekah. Elena hated Rebekah.
