Pam carefully reached up and pet Neptune's neck, and slowly worked her way up so she could scratch behind his ears. She hummed to herself as she took in his coat, and when he was comfortable enough with her by his ears, she pulled them back and peeked inside. "I know, baby, I know," she said calmly, then went back to scratching his ears.
"I think that's the best way to do it. I've found, like, a dozen animals, and adopted a few, and I don't know any of their birthdays, but we make it work," she rambled, all the while checking on and petting Neptune. "I really miss having a pet that's not an octopus. Don't get me wrong, I love Hathaway, but, like, I miss puppy cuddles and kitty snuggles. But I'm really glad you got Neptune back. That was so awful, what they did."
