Owen took the babytalk - dogtalk? - in stride. Thankfully Chase chattered enough for both of them, and he carried the bowl and water bottle in what was mostly silence. It wasn't that Chase annoyed him or anything. Really, Chase was one of the few Owen actually liked in the house. Or could tolerate for longer than a few minutes.
Like Chase, Owen was happy that Cecilia would have her dog. He was sure it would be a shock, considering she believed Neptune was dead. But Owen had a feeling she would recover quickly. This wasn't the best place for a pet, but he was important to Cecilia, and that was all that mattered.
It took Owen a few moments to realize Chase's last statement was actually directed toward him and not Neptune. He looked over quickly, brows raising. "Uh... oh, right. Yeah. I don't know. The dog seems pretty focused on getting to Cecilia." They were near the hospital now, and Owen found he actually felt nervous. Was she healthy enough for this kind of shock?
