Chase's gaze had been practically glued in the same fashion as Oliver's except he couldn't hide the pensive, uncertain expression, nor the fact that he was distractedly gnawing on his lower lip. The second he'd seen Tobias he'd been glued to his friend's side, but the blatant absence of both Kiley and Lennon as the meeting started was making his skin prickle with unease.
Kiley, he knew, wasn't sick. In fact, the only unusual thing about her that morning had been that she'd been there when he'd woken up. It had initially thrown him for a loop the first time his eyes had popped open at some ungodly hour of the morning. He couldn't remember the last time he'd slept next to someone, and never had it been because they were together. Some forgettable, friendly sleepover when he was a kid, maybe? Had he even done it then? He'd been awake for a grand total of two, maybe three minutes, when he let it sink in that not only did sharing a bed not bother him nearly as much as he thought it might, but that being able to ninja-esquely cuddle up to Kiley while she slept was pretty much thing he'd ever done.
Well. Second best....or...maybe tied for second. The other two options also involved her, so he doubted she would feel offended if she knew. He considered that even as he drifted right back to sleep again.
If the situation hadn't been so worrisome he would have been perfectly fine just sticking with Tobias, he was sure, but as it was it felt like half of his foundation was missing. He was torn between his friend's comforting presence, and the discombobulating absence of the others. He tried to consider what everyone was saying. There were other people missing too, and maybe they were just running late. How long after noon was it anyway? Should he offer to go hunting? But what if Kiley and Lennon showed up while he was gone?
