That sounded like something that made sense, and Evie nodded mutely at Madison. Okay, so maybe it wouldn't be bad to have some wine, too. Why not? It was a party! And she could be fun, too, just like she could be pretty, even if she wasn't very good at doing it on purpose. She watched Madison cross the room and then come back with the wine and her own dessert, taking small sips of the chocolate liqueur all the while.
"Oooh, well..." She contemplated the glass of wine for a few more beats before deciding, fuck it, why not? She set the bottle on the ground next to her chair with far more care than she would have thought possible in her current state of inebriation and then leaned forward to take the glass off the table. And fuck if it didn't look like Madison was really enjoying that souffle. Almost like it was an... orgasmic experience. And that was something else she had no real experience with. But that strange heat had yet to leave her, and she still had no idea what to do about any of it.
She was just about to take a sip of the wine when she heard Jack's voice. There was nothing conscious about it, but her expression lit up when she looked over at him. "Jack!" she said with a wide smile, finding it oddly easier to ignore that strange heat when she looked at him. Because Jack was a friend, her best friend here, and he was a safe place and sane and her rock, and there he was, looking at her so concerned like! "What am I doing?" she repeated dumbly. "I joined the party! I even put on a pretty dress," she said, giggling, her free hand smoothing over the skirt of it where it covered her knees that were still perched over the arm of the chair. "Daphne's dress is probably prettier, but I knew I could be pretty if I tried," she said as if confessing some deep secret, trying for a whisper that certainly didn't come out as such.
