Pam had been having a rough few days. She'd spent the night before sleeping on the couch down in the study, trying not to think about the mess that was still in her room. To be fair, she'd gotten all the lose trash out, and had started doing some scrubbing to get rid of the juices, but there was still so much more. She was glad she had a strong stomach, because more than once she'd found herself very close to throwing up at what had been poured onto her bed.
Today was a lot of scrubbing today, too, and somehow, even more crying than the day before. She missed Fletcher, so much. It hit her hard, and left her crying so hard that she'd made her way through an entire box of tissues. She'd stayed out of people's way again today, figuring she would only be a sobbing mess, and a regular mess from all the cleaning. She felt like she'd been trapped in a fog of sadness, until she finally went downstairs to the public bathroom to take a long, hot bath, and think about Fletcher while making herself feel a little less lonely.
She'd nearly forgotten about the party, but thankfully hadn't needed help getting ready. She'd fixed up her makeup and hair almost expertly after so many years of her mother's dinner parties, and even managed to cover what was left of that stupid black eye that Evie had given her. She was proud of herself, and finally feeling good. She'd practically danced around her bathroom with glee as she slipped into her dress, a blue vintage number that was lacy and perfect. Matching heels and accessories, and she was so pleased with herself that she almost forgot that she'd spent the day crying.
She made it down to the billiards room around the same time as most of the other people had, and had busied herself with food as she waited for Daphne to stop talking to other people, because at some point she was for sure going to corner her. In the meantime, she caught Kate going to get wine. She hadn't really met Kate yet, but she'd been the one to have messages on the network about the party. It made sense to get on her good side.
"Oh my gosh, honey, your dress is perfect," she sang, announcing her arrival.
