Who: Willow (Narrative)
When: All day
Where: All around, outskirts of town
After being separated from Madison the day before, Willow had sat in the theater watching the movies playing there for hours, fascinated. Why had they kept this technology out of the commune? The answer came to her when she finally ventured back out of the building to find the day had been squandered away. When was the last time she'd done nothing useful or productive in a day? It felt wrong, somehow, but she wasn't sure what she could do here to be productive. Truly, she'd just been so caught up in the whole concept of movies that she hadn't let her mind go to the disturbing situation around her.
At that moment, though, she couldn't help but think about it. What was she supposed to do here? Why was she here? What else would she be faced with here that she had no experience in? It was all very overwhelming, and she'd wished for a moment that she would have taken Madison up on her offer to go with her rather than wasting the day away watching movies. After all, she had no idea where to go now. Why hadn't she asked Madison more questions, made sure she knew where to go or what to do?
Willow had wandered through the town, not sure where she was going, but it was so strange that she felt uncomfortable there and sought the familiarity of the trees she so loved. She'd made it to the outskirts of town, going further into the forest until something had stopped her. The pain was unlike anything she'd experienced before, and it dropped her to her knees. What was that?
Without any idea of how she'd managed it, Willow found her way to the path leading up to the mansion Madison had mentioned, getting shocked a couple more times in the process. The house - that sure didn't look like any house she had seen before - was certainly a sight to behold. Was she supposed to go inside? What would she find in there? She wasn't sure she could handle many more surprises today.
The inside held a luxury she'd never encountered before, and she wandered slowly through the rooms of the first floor, her cloak dragging slightly on the ground behind her. There were rooms she recognized as basic rooms - living room, kitchen, dining room - but they were so very different from the equivalent that she had at home. And then there were other doors that were closed, two of which had names on them. Not one to snoop, she'd wandered back to the stairs, climbing them with a hand resting lightly on the rail.
The second floor had a lot more closed doors with names on them and a room she had no name for. It was filled with a variety of equipment that she had no frame of reference for. What was the purpose, she wondered? There also seemed to be another living room on this floor, and it was quite lovely. She spotted Madison's name on a door, but decided not to knock. It was just nice to know where she would be able to find the one person she'd met here.
Finally, Willow made her way to the third floor, and she spotted her own name on a door right away. She didn't think it would have been possible to miss it. Brows furrowed, she opened the door tentatively, slowly peeking her head around it to get a look inside. The room within was absolutely gorgeous and homey and that bed looked like she could just sink into the mattress and sleep for days! She stepped in, then, glancing around further. There was a large alcove window with a thickly cushioned seat that she could imagine sitting in and just staring out the window. There was also a desk, with something sitting on it that she didn't recognize. It didn't seem important at the moment, though, so she wandered around the room to see what else was there.
A door led to a large, walk-in closet that was, strangely, empty. Though, Madison had said that there was a place to get clothes in the town, hadn't she? She would have to do that. There was only one other door, and she found that it led to an absolutely exquisite bathroom. It was larger than she was used to, and the stonework was just stunning. She hadn't known they made bathtubs so large! She could imagine how soothing it would be to have a nice soak in it.
And so she did just that, though she didn't have any clean clothes to wear afterward. She decided to just slid into bed naked instead, wanting to feel the soft sheets against her smooth skin. She fell asleep fast, and she slept deeply.
It was late in the morning when Willow finally opened her eyes, and she was feeling relaxed and at peace right up until that moment. For, as her eyes fully opened, even as she was still blinking the sleep out of them, an awful noise filled the room. She shot up in bed, the blankets falling around her bare waist. What was that terrible sound?! She slapped her hands over her ears, sending a silent prayer to the Goddess that it would stop. It didn't stop, though, and there were things she had to do, so she stumbled out of bed and to the bathroom. Once her business was taken care of, she pulled her clothes back on, cringing as the -could it even be called music?- noise continued.
Hoping that it would just be in her room, Willow left her room, but the noise followed her. Maybe it was the house? With that thought, she hurried out of the mansion, but as she walked down the road that lead to the town, she could still hear the terrible noise. Why wouldn't it stop? Where was it even coming from? It seemed to come from the trees, from the earth itself! How was it possible?
Willow found herself in the woods on the outskirts of the town around midday, and she lay in a small expanse of grass that had a canopy of trees above her. It was cold but her thick cloak kept the warmth of her own body in. And there she stayed, eyes closed, a pained expression on her face as she tried to connect with nature in order to tune out the awful noise. She still couldn't wrap her mind around why it was happening, even late in the afternoon when the rain began. She stayed there for a while still, until her clothes were soaked through and she could feel the chill all the way to her bones. And still, the noise continued on.
How much more could she take? Would it ever end?
