Who: Evie and Avram When: Around midday Where: Study
Avram had cooled off a bit by mid-morning, enough to feel frustrated with himself. The people running this place wanted reactions, and he'd given them one. Even knowing that everyone was going to be punished today hadn't been enough to prepare emotionally. Maybe there was no way to prepare. Maybe all they could do was cope. Still, Evie's reply to his message had cheered him up a bit—having a problem to work on, especially with someone else, just made things better.
He stopped by the kitchen before he headed to the study, rummaging aimlessly through the fridge for a few moments. When he opened the crisper drawer, a thought suddenly occurred to him and he smiled to himself, taking an apple out and closing the door again. "Eureka," he murmured.
Well, not really, he thought as he made a cup of coffee. Just a scrap of an idea. Still. The kitchen had one of those Keurig coffeemakers that he'd always thought were wasteful and stupid, but not so much so that he was going to turn down an easy dose of caffeine right about now. Having done his part to ruin the environment, he took his coffee cup and the apple with him to the study.
