Jack nodded a bit, taking that into consideration. Considering they were getting married, it was more than reasonable to assume that Philippe knew his own fiance well enough to plan something they'd both like. He hoped. Nothing was worse than getting stuck in an unfamiliar place that you really, really didn't want to be in. Current case in point.
"Well, some of the best trips are the ones that don't require a ton of planning." All of the best trips, in his personal experience. "If I go anywhere, like with a group or by myself, it's more like we pick one or two things to do and play the rest by ear. The locals will be able to tell you the best places to hang out, and if you've got a set schedule for stuff it feels more like work." He broke into his second Pop Tar, tugging off the corner and popping it into his mouth, barely swallowing before he continued on.
"Alaska's pretty much the exact opposite of what I'm used to for trips like that, and totally different from the city. I've been wanting to go for years." He was proud that he'd managed to avoid saying it was the polar opposite, but then felt bad about wasting the opportunity a second later. "Glaciers, sled dogs, whale watching, the sun being up at midnight? It just sounds fucking awesome." The more he talked about it the more excited he felt, and the easier it was to remember that the chances of him actually going now were slim to none. "I really, really want to see the Northern Lights. You can sometimes catch a glimpse of them in New York, but nothing like up there."
