There was something attractive about someone who was self-aware, and Jim seemed to be that in spades. Madison chuckled lightly at his joke, nodding solemnly as if to make a vow. "I like hearing you ramble so far, but I promise I'll let you know."
The light, pleasant flirtation continued on Madison's part until he mentioned her. Her own past was Madison's least favorite subject, her one weakness and guaranteed to destroy her good mood. Immediately as he started asking questions she felt a knot form in her stomach, smile faltering slightly for a microsecond before she composed herself. However, because he had only asked about the present and not exactly the past, Madison managed to reply after a sip on her coffee. "Nothing exciting, I work in a call center doing customer service for a phone company." She shrugged. "Not your level of helpful, but I do alright."
