Kiley was still eying Rhett, as if trying to figure him out in the forty five seconds she had been speaking to him. But Jack's voice drew her out of her thoughts and she pushed away from the island to walk over to the fridge to look for the kind of cheese she liked. If she could remember the name of it. All she knew was it was two different colors. Yellow and white. Or maybe yellow and sort of yellow.
"Kiley from Chicago," she said, deciding against voicing that she had been taken from Missouri. She was going to get tired of repeating herself really fast. Grabbing a package called Colby Jack - yellow and white! - Kiley turned to Jack just in time to watch him sip his coffee. And witness his pretend poisoning.
"Clever," she stated with a smirk. "But I don't know if I would be able to tell if it was poisoned, or if you're just really shit at making coffee." She took one of the mugs anyway after placing her preferred cheese on the table. As she poured herself a cup, Kiley glanced at the two men, suddenly struck again at how bizarre this whole thing was. "Kind of weird, huh? We're being held captive by crazy mad scientists and we're all convening in the kitchen for coffee and breakfast. Have we accepted our doomed fate so quickly?"
