As much effort as it was to sit back down, Edwin wanted to jump right back up when he saw the state that Cecilia was in. He hadn't seen her the day before, and if he had, he would have insisted that she take it easy. They could have gone down to her. Or hell, at least they could have gone down to Oliver's room. It was at least a halfway point. The only thing that kept him from saying so was the sudden distraction from Charlie, who hadn't met these other dogs yet, and reacted by trying to hide in the space between Edwin and the headboard, and he had to deal with that before the puppy knocked into his bad ribs.
By the time he had gotten Charlie to settle, Oliver was already helping Cecilia inside, and he could only give his boyfriend a halfway scolding look. "Jesus, you shouldn't have come all the way up here," he sighed.
