Chase didn't return the smile, but he also didn't take his eyes off of Kiley, glad that she moved so that he didn't need to see Simms in the background. That didn't mean he wasn't entirely aware that the guy was present, and he tried to focus on any sounds of movement that might come from that corner of the room.
"I electrocuted him," he said simply, not wanting to get into too much detail on how it had both worked and hadn't. If he did, no doubt they'd waste what little time they had with Simms gloating, or butting in somehow. "Sorry I didn't do better," he added quietly for her, swallowing hard. "Could've been over by now." He watched her for a second, then shook his head. "You shouldn't have done this. He could-" He wasn't about to finish that, and just the thought of what she might be opening herself up to just to see him for a few minutes scared the shit out of him.
